From Laois to Barcelona

EARLIER this month some students from Mountrath brushed up on their Spanish and took a trip to Barcelona. From April 10 to 14 the transition year students enjoyed a very educational trip to the coastal city.

EARLIER this month some students from Mountrath brushed up on their Spanish and took a trip to Barcelona. From April 10 to 14 the transition year students enjoyed a very educational trip to the coastal city.

They took in many sights including Tarragona, Barcelona and the amazing La Ramblas, Nou Camp Stadium,The harbour, Montserrat and Port Aventura Theme Park. Stephanie Palmer said that she really enjoyed the historic architecture of Tarragona and the beautiful beach. It was a great way to start the trip. She also loved the walk around the city of Barcelona with the guide, through the Gothic Quarters of the city.

Vanessa Boyle thought that the trip around Montserrat, located on the highest peak of Catalunya, was absolutely breathtaking looking over the viewing points at the mountains. She said it was also very interesting visiting the Old Monastery at the top of the mountain. Rory Keenan really enjoyed the excitement of Nou Camp stadium. “It was definitely a high point for me to see all the interesting parts of the stadium”.

Teacher Joan Hallissey also thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

“It was such a great learning experience for the group and a trip they will always remember. It was for many on the trip one of the highest points on their busy transition year calendar”.
