The parish lotto with a jackpot and of €8,600 was not won, small winners were €30 Doran Kids, €25 Ann Dunphy, €20 Peadar Lennon. The lotto will be in O’Connell’s, Cullohill on July 15 with a possible jackpot of €8,900. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Super Value Cup. Many thanks to Super Value Ballyragget for their continuing support The winner was Seanie Delehunty, 2nd Jonathan Stapleton and 3rd Seamus Stapleton. The juvenile winner was Patrick O’Regan . On Sunday they held a pike fishing competition for the Con Geoghegan Memorial Cup and winner was Tommy Coffey, 2nd Damien Geoghegan and 3rd was Sean Geoghegan.
Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School wish to thank all the ladies who participated in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon to raise sponsorship for the new classroom build. The school was presented this week with a cheque worth over €1,588.10 from collective sponsorship. These funds will directly benefit the upgrading of the school and contribute to the ongoing fundraising effort

Caoimhe Kenny “Knockmannon”, Parkbawn, Durrow, Co. Laoise. The National Young Breeders Competition took place on Saturday April 20 in Kildalton College, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. Caoimhe goes forward to represent Ireland at the WBFSH Young Breeders World Championships to be held in Sweden on July 12 and 13. This is Caoimhes second time to represent Ireland, she did so in Lyon in France in 2011. Wishing Caoimhe the best of luck in Sweden.
Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra have been extremely busy over the past few weeks, taking part in such competitions as farm skills, stock judging, tag rugby, set dancing and Gaelic football. The 2012/13 soccer season was a hugely successful season for the Lions Schoolboys. The Under 13 boys team made club history by winning the Eric Wilcox Memorial Cup beating Evergreen A 3-2 in a thrilling final in Dermidus on Saturday last. They went on to beat East End Utd. on Tuesday evening to claim the League Division 1 title.
The Under 12 boys won Division 3 undefeated with star player Daire Quinn being awarded Player of the Year from Kilkenny and District league. The Under 11 team are runners up in their division with player James Duggan being awarded Player of the Year from Kilkenny and District league.
