Top score at Newtown whist was won by Annette Lawlor. 1st lady Maureen Coady. 2nd lady Margaret Kealy. 1st gent Gerry Kealy. 2nd Michael O’Brien. First half Rita Brennan and Peg Cahill. 2nd Leslie Hunter. 1st quarter Ena Wallace. 2nd Owen Salmon. Raffle winners were Nora Fisher, Gerry Kealy, David Farr, Margaret Brennan and Rita Brennan.

MAYO DOONANE PTAA

The local centre of the PTAA will be presenting gold and silver pins in the near future. Anyone wishing to order pins and certificates should contact Mary Warren, Phil Dormer or Alice Dowling. Orders have to be placed in good time and paid for.

MR MICHAEL CAMPBELL

The death took place at Abbeyleix Hospital of Mr Michael Campbell, Newtown, Crettyard. Michael had been in failing health for some time. He was predeceased by his wife, Maryellen. His remains were removed from his residence to St Abbans Church, Doonane. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery after requiem mass. Sympathy is extended to his daughter, Aine, sons Michael and Eugene,sister Mary, son in law, daughters-in law, grandson, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

LADIES CLUB

At the monthly meeting in Newtown School the raffle was won by Mary Jo O’Neill. Competition winners Rita Brennan and May Doyle.
