The monthly meeting of Clough ICA was held on Thursday November 8 in Clough hall. There was a good attendance a vote of sympathy was passed with the following on their recent sad bereavements - Mary Hennessey, Eddie Hayes, Seames McLoughney, and the relatives of Bernie Phelan. A report on group meeting in Clough was given. Members will attend the federation meeting in Ballylinan on Sunday November 25 at 2pm. Christmas party was discussed and provisional date is December 5. Laois Week at on Grianan will be from 10th to 14 June 2013 Competition winners were Noreen Byrne and Peggy Bergin. Raffle winners were Phil Nolan, Nora Hyland, Maureen Dobbyn, Kitty Hogan Mary Dunne. Next meeting will be our Christmas party.
Hawthorn community building
The Hawthorn community building committie wish to thank everyone very sincerely for your contribution to the hall building fund to date. The total cost of the building was €411,000 and we are delighted to state that as a result of local contributions grants donations fundraising and income generated that we now have brought the dept down to €10,000. In order to complete the debt completely the committee have decided to ask the people of the area for one final contribution of €50 each, we appreciate the huge econimic difficulties that many people face and we very reluctantly came to this decision. The hall is currently used by many organisations in the area including the two schools in the parish, Clough/Ballacolla GAA, Laois sports partnership, Basketball coaching, Badminton, Down Syndrome Assocation, FAS, Ballacolla Tidy town, Laois GAA and up to 10 soccer groups.Your contributition can be given to any of the Trustees or members of the hall committee before the end of November 2012.
