Borris in Ossory Youth club will hold a Variety Concert on Saturday December 22 in Killesmeestia Community Centre. Along with participation from the club’s own members, the concert will also be open to any individual, school, choir, group or club who wish to perform on the night.

The club has entered teams in the Mini Tops Competition organised by Ossory Youth on December 2. Rehearsals and practice continue at the weekly meetings on Friday nights from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The Progressive 25 Drive will continue next Thursday night in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm.


The Annual Christmas 25 Drive will take place on Thursday night December 6 at 9pm. This annual event is always a great success and it is hoped that it will be well supported this year. The weekly card game is the only income for this small club so everyone is being asked to come along on the night, give a donation or sponsor a raffle prize.


The Cavanagh Cup Senior Billiards competition is about to commence. Any member interested in taking part should put their name on the sheet posted up in the hall. Only paid up club members are eligible to take part.


An Advent Retreat in preparation for Christmas will take place in Peace in Christ Retreat House, Sion Road, Kilkenny on this Sunday December 2 from 10.30am to 5pm. Congratulations to Shauna Ward, Megan King, Micheal Scully and Isobel Sweeney from Borris-in-Ossory Parish who received the Pope John Paul 11 Award for their commitment to Liturgy and for services in the parish. They received the Bronze Medal and Certificate of Award from Bishop Seamus Freeman and Archbishop Charles Brown Papal Nuncio at St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny on Thursday November 8.


Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Tuesday in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory from 10am to 3pm. Adoration takes place in Killasmeestia Church on Thursdays from 9.30am to 3pm and in Knockaroo Church on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm. Anyone is welcome to come along and spend some time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.


Fr Jackie Robinson has decided to postpone the trip to the Holy Land until October 2014 because of the volatile situation there at present.


A Parish talk in preparation for the Year of Faith will take place in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory on this Wednesday night November 28 at 7.30pm. The talk will be given by Ms Noeleen Lynam. All are welcome.


Borris in Ossory ICA Guild will hold the December meeting on Wednesday 5 in St Canice’s Hall at 8pm. This meeting will also be the guild Christmas party. There will be plenty of festive goodies, fun and games and spot prizes for everyone. Members are asked to invite along a friend.
