Fine gael agm

The AGM of Borris-In-Ossory Fine Gael on Thursday March 20 at 8pm in St Canice’s Hall. Charlie Flanagan TD, Councillors and candidates for the upcoming local elections will address the branch. All current and new members welcome. Contact Conor Bergin, Secretary 087 1620097 for further details.

SOCIAL

A Social will take place in Killasmeestia Community Centre on this Friday March 21 with music by Peter Burke. Dancing from 9.30pm-12.30am and supper will be served.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues every Monday and Wednesday evening in the hall at St Joseph’s Primary School, starting at 7.30pm. A coach will be available in the coming weeks.

ICA

The last meeting of the Borris in Ossory ICA Guild took place on Wednesday March 5, presided over by Helen Kavanagh. Sympathy was extended to Valerie St Leger and Mai Clare on the death of their cousin, the late George Stanley, Springhill, Borris-in-Ossory.

Members were informed of the forthcoming events in the Federation: The Irish night on March 14 and the Federation dinner on April 11.

The competition for the nicest St Patrick’s Day Card was won by Noreen Whelan, 2nd Helen Kavanagh, 3rd Pat Kelly and the raffle winners were Helen Kavanagh and Helen Browne. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday April 2 and all members should note that this meeting will be the Annual General Meeting.

Laois federation ica

Laois week in An Grianán takes place from June 16-20. Courses available include cookery, dancing, fabric boxes, Assissi Embroidery, bets & bits, photography, pamper me, aromatherapy and encaustic art. Places are open to members and non members. PILATES

A six week course of armchair Pilates has commenced in St Canice’s Hall and will continue next Wednesday night at the earlier time of 8pm. Anyone interested should come along on the night. The course costs €30 for the six nights.

SOCIAL DANCE

St Fergal’s College, Rathdowney will host a Social Dance in Templemore Arms on Friday March 21. Doors open 9pm. Music by Pat Costello and the Midnight Dynamoes starting 9:30pm. Tickets €10, available at St Fergal’s College and on the door on the night. Proceeds go towards St Fergal’s College Gym Fund. All support appreciated. More information contact 085 2281113.

TONY’S FOODSTORE

Coratulations to Olivia Parlon who was the February winner of the free customer draw on Tony’s Foodstore, Borris in Ossory. A draw will take place at the end of each month.

DAFFODIL DAY

Daffodil Day takes place on Friday March 28 and organisers in the Borris in Ossory area welcome more volunteers to help sell the daffodils. Donations of fresh daffodils would also be very much appreciated.

KYLE GAA

Congratulations to Michael Rigney who was the winner of the load of timber in the ticket draw organised by Kyle GAA Club. The draw took place on Saturday March 8 after the Table Quiz. The club would like to thank all those who supported this fundraising event.
