KNOCKAROO CHURCH

Holy Thursday April 17 eucharistic service 12 noon. Good Friday April 18 Stations of the Cross 3pm. Killasmeestia Church Holy Thursday April 17 eucharistic service 4pm. Good Friday April 18 Stations of the Cross 12 noon. Fr Jackie will bring Holy Communion to the sick on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Easter Sunday masses as normal.

SCHOOL OPENING

St Joseph’s National School will hold their official opening ceremony on Friday May 2 at 12pm. All parents, past pupils, former staff and former board of management members are invited to attend, along with the local community. Light refreshments will be served afterwards in the school hall.

SOCIAL IN KILLASMEESTIA

A social will take place in Killasmeestia Community Centre on Easter Sunday night April 20 with music by the Kelly Family. Dancing will be from 9.30pm to 12.30am and supper will be served.

SOCIAL SERVICES

The next afternoon bingo in St Canice’s Hall will take place on Saturday April 26. At a recent Social Services meeting thanks was extended to all who helped make the recent senior citizens party such a success. The annual summer outing was discussed and it is proposed to go to Dublin Zoo in early July. The date and details of the outing will be finalised at the next meeting.

FUN RUN

Killadooley NS parents council will hold a family 5km /10km fun run and field day on Sunday June 15. In preparation for this event there will be training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday night for eight weeks. The cost of the training will be €2.50 per night or €30 for the eight weeks. All fitness levels are welcome. Registration will take place in Killasmeestia Community field on Tuesday April 22 at 7pm and the first training session will take place immediately afterwards. Everyone will be required to wear hi-vis vests. Please check the website www.killadooleyfunrun.com for further details.

BADMINTON

Since summer time is in, the club is now opening between 8 and 10 on Monday and Wednesday nights. This is a great time for new members to try the game out with a view to full membership in September. Just come along to the new school hall on club nights - open to over 18s.

YOUTH CLUB

Borris-In-Ossory Youth Club are holding a public meeting in St Josephs School PE Hall on Thursday April 24 at 8pm. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the need for and possibility of building a community sports and leisure hall in the area. We have discussed this at several recent meetings of our club and we feel the need is there for such a hall because there is no hall adequate enough in the area to play Indoor games, for concerts, dinner dances, parties, meetings etc. This meeting is open to all.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

A bus will travel to Knock Shrine, Co Mayo for Divine Mercy Sunday on April 27. The bus will be in the Square, Rathdowney at 8.10am, Borris in Ossory at 8.30am, Roscrea at 9am and Birr 9.30am. For further details contact Michael Sutcliffe at 089 4620860.

DAFFODIL DAY

The total amount collected on Daffodil Day in Borris in Ossory this year was €3085. Thanks is extended to all who donated to this worthy cause and a very sincere thank you to all the volunteers.
