Mass for Exam Classes

Mass will be celebrated in Camross Church on 2nd June at 7.30pm for all students sitting their Junior & Leaving Cert. Exams.

Community Dance

Community Social takes place in Camross Community Hall on Sat. 7th June at 9.30pm. Music by Catherine & Images. Adm. €7 and supper served.

Clothes Collection

There will be a clothes collection from Killanure and Camross schools early on Thursday morning May 29th. All unwanted clothes, bedding, footwear etc. may be left in the play shelters of either school. All proceeds will go directly to Fr. Paddy Hyland’s mission in Kenya.

Late Liam Deegan

The death occurred on Sunday May 18th of Liam Deegan St Johns Square Portlaoise a son of the late Tom and Mollie (nee Culleton) formerly of Cummer Camross.

Liam worked in the Prison Service for over thirty years but his health deteriorated in recent years and he passed away in the loving care of the staff of Kilminchy Lodge Portlaoise.

Liam’s remains reposed at the Chapel of Rest Portlaoise until removal of remains on Tuesday morning to St Peter and Pauls Church Portlaoise. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr Eddie Lalor who was joined by Monsignor Tom Byrne and Fr Tom O’Connor.

The coffin was draped in the Tri-colour and colleagues from the Prison Service carried the remains to and from the Church. After Mass the remains were taken to St Peter and Pauls cemetery for burial.

Liam or “Skipper” as he was known as was only in his sixty seventh year and was pre-deceased by his parents as well as his brother John Joe and sister Mary Dunne.

Chief mourners are his wife Phyllis (nee Walsh), his son Eugene and his two daughters Martina and Lisa, brother Tom, grandchildren Callum and Bronagh, Aunt Eilish O’Hara Mountrath and uncle Dan Culleton Camross, son-in-law Pat daughter-in-law Clodagh, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces relatives friends and neighbours as well as former colleagues in the Prison service and many sporting colleagues. May he rest in peace.
