Each year on February 22, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world celebrate World Thinking Day.
It is a day to think about the meaning of Guiding and Scouting and about all fellow Guides and Scouts around the world.
Donations are collected for the World Thinking Day Fund which supports projects to help Guides and Scouts around the world. February 22 was chosen as it is birthday of Scouting Founder Lord Baden-Powell and his wife.
As this date occurred on the midterm break Monday February 24 was chosen and permission sought from principals throughout Ireland for members of the Irish Girl Guides to wear their Uniform to school on this date. The Triogue Ladybird Unit Portlaoise also took part and wore their uniforms to school to celebrate International Thinking Day. The members involved included Aoibhe Keyes, Kate Dowling, Scoil Mhuire NS; Ciara Lalor, Rathineska NS; Kara Naughton Sacred Heart NS; Maya Reynolds, Ballyfin NS; Tara O’Reilly, Sacred Heart NS; Leah Bergin and Niamh Tunney Tobar An Leinn NS.
