Clonaslee CCE is holding a traditional music and singing festival on July 25 to 27. Friday July 25, at Rambling house with Maureen Culleton which includes music singing dancing storytelling at 8.30 pm in the Parochial Hall. On Saturday July 26 there will be pub sessions.

On Sunday July 27 activities start at 1.30 pm with marching bands.

The gig rig starts at 2.15 pm with groups from various other branches and a ceili with the Glenside Ceili band from 3-6 pm.

Congratulations to Monika McGuire on winning the Laois heat of Brown Bread Baking competition sponsored by Aldi. Monika beat 28 entries to win Laois heat. Semi-final is in an Grianan on August 14. Good luck Monika!


Sincere thanks to everyone who supported our church gate collections, those who gave private donations and the collectors. Total amount collected was €780.

For the summer months there is a lot of extra travelling and we cannot have overcrowding on the bus so please ring to avoid disappointment.


The bus is now full for this year’s outing on July 24 to Lismore, Waterford.


A trip to Knock will be on August 14. Bus will leave Clonaslee Post Office at 8:30 am sharp.

Circuit training is now on Wednesday from 7-8 pm and Saturdays in the Community Centre from 10 – 11 am.

This training is suitable for male or females and caters for all levels of fitness, from beginners to the advances.

Cost is €7 and all welcome to join in.

The recent AGM was attended by 26 members. Following the secretary, treasurer and chairman’s reports, the upcoming drama workshop was discussed. Seven members are going to Gormanstown for a week long workshop. More workshops were discussed.

Future plans may include two to three performances in 2014/2015. Outgoing secretary Annette Doolan and treasurer Lorraine O’Keeffe stepped down to give other members a chance to learn the ropes. They were thanked for their hard work.

Elections as follows: Chairman, David Brickley; Secretary, Aoife Rosney; Treasurer, John Dunne; Assistant Treasurer, TJ McCann, committee members: Pauline Comerford, Danny Hyland, Tricia Bracken. The committee will meet in August.
