Laois County Council has postponed a civic reception to honour the National Ploughing Association for making the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska a huge success.

A Civic Reception was to have been be held at Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise on Wednesday February 12.

However, as a mark of respect, the reception has been postponed due to the death of Mr Michael Scully who is brother of Cllr Mary Sweeney, Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council.

Anna May McHugh was the Leinster Express’ Person of the Year for 2013.
