The local club have once again decided to join the Piltown Draw to raise much needed funds for renovations to the alley at Monavea. Tickets cost €50 for 5 draws, the first being held on Tuesday June 10. First prize in each of the five draws is a car or €10,500. Tickets are available from any committee member and support is welcome.

Congratulations to Geraldine Haughney, Turra and Martin Glynn, Ballinabranna, who were married recently in St Mary’s Church, Mayo.

LATE MICHAEL BARRY

His many friends in Doonane and surrounding areas were saddened to learn of the death of Michael Barry, Doonane Hill which took place at St Lukes Hospital, Kilkenny on Thursday May 8. Michael had been ill for a short time. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him and his passing is much regretted. His remains were removed to St Abbans Church, Doonane on May 9. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery after 11 am requiem mass which was celebrated by Fr Denis Murphy, assisted by Fr Jimmy O’Reilly and Deacon Joe O’Rourke. Sympathy is extended to his wife, Catherine, daughters, Annette and Louise, sons, Kevin, Paul, Conor and Eoin, grandchildren, Ronan, Cian, Stephen, Aidan and Michaela, son in law, Alan, daughters in law, Geraldine and Katherian, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a large circle of friends.

CHARITY CYCLE 2014

There will be a charity cycle taking place again this year leaving Behans of Tolerton on Friday July 18 and returning to St Abbans Sports Complex on July 20. Anyone interested is requested to leave their name and contact number together with €10 registration in to Behans Bar. The event is open to everyone regardless of their cycling level or ability.
