Lotto

The parish lotto with a jackpot of €6,500 was not won, small winners were €30, Mary Walsh, Mary Street, €25 Peadar Lennon and €20 Seamus Campion. The lotto will be in the O’Connell’s, Cullohill on April 8 with a possible jackpot of €6,800. Tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

Buy a Brick

All past pupils and friends of Our Lady’s Meadow National School are calling on you help in their fundraising efforts - no matter where you are in the world you can buy a brick for ten euro and the brick with your name on it will help build the new class room

Whist

The Killermogh monthly whist drive for April will be held in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow on Thursday April 4 at 8.30 pm. Please note the change of date, all welcome

Pilates

A new session of Pilates Classes will commence on Tuesday March 26 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow, classes are for ten weeks and cost €80. Daffodil Day

A Coffee/Tea day is being held in aid of the Irish Cancer Society at the residence of Jacinta Fitzpatrick, Tubberboe, Durrow on Friday April 5 from 8am to 7pm. Everyone is welcome to come and support this event. All proceeds will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Genealogy

The launch of Ireland Reaching Out will be held in the Parish Center, Portlaois on April 4 at 8pm. in the year of the Gathering 2013 Ireland’s Reaching Out is an initiative to seek and encourage the decedents of these who left your parish to return home from around the world . Anyone interested in their community, local history, heritage, tourism, and genealogy are invited to get involved and learn more. This programme will be launched by Henry Healey and John Liston. It is intended to hold a training course in Durrow in April ,the purpose of which is to train local people,(free of charge) in genealogy and ultimately create a database of decedents of Durrow Emigrant and invite the home for special events. Mini-Marathon

Ladies mini-marathon sponsorship cards and tee shirts are available from Kay in Lawlor’s Gala, Eileen Keenan and the office in Our Lady’s Meadow. Please support these ladies as they are raising funds towards the cost of the new extension to the school and thus benefiting the whole community.

Vintage Club

The 11th Annual Vintage Vehicle show and autojumble organised by Durrow Vintage Club will be held on Sunday April 21 at the Cork Road, Durrow. A special display of Lanz Bulldog Tractors and pre-1930’s cars and motor bicycles will take place on the day. Admission; adults, five euro, children free. All proceeds will be given to charity. Macra

Durrow /Abbeyleix Macra Ladies Basket ball team representing Laois in the All-Ireland finals held in the University of Limerick last weekend qualified for the final only to be narrowly defeated by Crookstown representing Cork. On their way to the final they defeated Tullow, Carlow, Treble R, Dublin ,Mitchelstown and Brehan. Well done to Brid Walsh, Laura Brennan, Majella Delaney, Catherine Walshe and Emma Walshe who represented the club on the day and all played extremely well . for more details on Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra please phone Joe 085766583.

Manage your Life

A free workshop presented by Dr. Fergus Heffernan will be held Kilkenny Campus NUI Maynooth, College Road, Kilkenny on Monday April 15 and Tuesday April 23. the workshop will help all who attend to learn in a very practical and fun filled way to have more contentment in life, by managing ourselves and our time and freeing from fears and consistent worries. This workshop is open to Senior Level Students, their parents ,guidance councilors, Mature and FETAC students interested in developing skills that would support transition.
