FITNESS

The 3rd fun run/walk takes place this Wednesday May 7 at 7:30 in Cullohill. This is the next one in the series to help those who would like to reach their 10k goal. The distance is 7k and all walkers/runners are welcome. Reg takes place in the Community Hall from 6:30 with refreshments following. There are prizes for the 1st 3 male/female home with plenty of spot prizes to be won after. Check the Ballyroan, Abbeyleix & District AC Facebook page for more details.

Lotto

The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for 15050 euro and it would be lovely jackpot to win. On April 28 the jackpot was 14, 750 and it was not won, small winners were 30 euro Tomas Kenna, 25 euro Catherine Creagh and 20 euro Breda Tynan. The lotto of Monday night May 12 will be in Durrow Inn with a possible jackpot of 15,050 euro. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot

Mini Marathon

Anyone who wishes to travel by bus to the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon on June Bank Holiday Monday should give their name and a deposit of 10 euro’s to guarantee a seat. As seats are limited it would be advisable to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. All bookings are through Susan Lawlor at Lawlor’s Gala.

Fundraiser

Heywood Community School, Ballinakill school fundraiser involving a Walk(5k), Run(5k) and Cycle (40k) on the May 11th commencing at the school at 11am. Registration from 10.30 a.m. €10 adults. €5 students. Supervised parking, refreshments, changing rooms with showers provided. Enquiries: 057/8733333.

School BAG PACK

Supervalu Ballyragget has kindly gave the opportunity to raise some much needed money for Our Lady’s Meadow Parent’s Council by allowing us do some bag-packing on Friday, May 2 from 10am until 8pm. The money we raised will be used to install another ‘sound-field’ system in one of the classrooms from which all the children will benefit.DAWN CHORUS

LIONS AFC

The Club is holding their Annual Race Night on Saturday, May 17 in Peadar’s Bar from 7pm. Please support this very important fundraising event for the club. A great night is assured. Shorts and Socks are available from your child’s team manager at a price of €6 each or €10 if you buy them in a pair. Parents are asked to please contact your manager for details as proper gear must be worn for all cup matches! Many thanks.

Fishing

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Mick O’Rourke Memorial Cup. The winner was Patrick O’Regan, 2nd Mick Walsh and 3rd Seanie Delehunty. U-18 Darren Singh. U-14 Lee Coffey. The club will hold a fishing competition on Sunday May 18 and all members will receive a “text” giving full details of the competition.

SCARECROW Volunteers

Durrow Development Forum invites you to come on board for the 2014 Scarecrow Festival. We are looking for people who would like the get involved in the festival - new input and ideas are what keep a festival alive and flourishing. If you are in doubt but considering that you might like to get involved, please do! Do not worry that it will take all of your time; you would not be expected to attend every meeting.
