Lotto

The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €15200 and it would be lovely jackpot to win. On May 05 the jackpot was €14,900 and it was not won, small winners were €30 Sheila Finnegan, €25 Ailish O’Dea and €20 Michael Holohan.

The lotto of Monday night May 19 will be in O’Connell’s Cullohill with a possible jackpot of €200. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot

LITTLE OAKS PARENTS & TODDLER GROUP

LIONS AFC

The Club is holding their Annual Race Night on Saturday, May 17 in Peadar’s Bar from 7pm. Please support this very important fundraising event for the club. A great night is assured.

Shorts and Socks are available from your child’s team manager at a price of €6 each or €10 if you buy them in a pair.

Knock

The annual Pilgrimage from Cullohill will take place on Tuesday July 01 and more details will be given later.

Parish Retreat

There was an attendance of 48 people at the parish evening retreat in Peace in Christ, Kilkenny on Monday April 28

Fishing

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Mick O’Rourke Memorial Cup. The winner was Patrick O’Regan, 2nd Mick Walsh and 3rd Seanie Delehunty.

U-18 Darren Singh. U-14 Lee Coffey. The club will hold a fishing competition on Sunday May 18 and all members will receive a “text” giving full details of the competition.

Cullohill ICA

The May meeting of Cullohill ICA was held in the Community Centre on Tuesday May 06. Votes of sympathy were extended to the following families on recent bereavements; Kenny family on death of Sr Albert, the Harding family on the death of Bridget, Noleen Kells on death of her mother, May they rest in peace.

Four members attended the Federation meeting at which a cheque for €2,295 was presented to Domestic Abuse representatives and a cheque for 3,800 euro was presented to Hospice and Home care teams.

Laois Federation are planning a three night four day break touring Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford based in White’s Hotel Wexford. Deposit of €100 before Friday May 16 and tour starts on July 8 with a full cost of €269.

For more details contact any member of Cullohill ICA. Some members are attending Laois week in on Grianan from June 16-20. Mary Kelly and Nancy Phelan won raffle, Helen Muldowney won the competition. Next meeting June 3 at 8 pm.

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers

Grantstown Nature Reserve angling Centre and walking trails is now open to the public.

The official opening will be later in this month.

The minister for Arts, Heritage and the Galeacht Mr Jimmy Deenehan will be in attendance.

The angling club would like to wish Michael G Phelan the best of luck in the local elections and thank him for the work he did on the lake.

SCARECROW Volunteers needed for festival

Durrow Development Forum invites you to come on board for the 2014 Scarecrow Festival. We are looking for people who would like the get involved in the festival - new input and ideas are what keep a festival alive and flourishing.

If you are in doubt but considering that you might like to get involved, please do!

Do not worry that it will take all of your time; you would not be expected to attend every meeting.

Walks

Durrow Leafy Loop walk with Flora and Fauna and Bluebells in Capponellan Woods on Thursday and Friday night May 15 and 16 each night at 7 pm. Meeting place is the car park in Capponellan wood, very suitable for families, all welcome.
