Fisherstown host cycle challenge

Locals in Fishertown will be able to flex their muscles this weekend, all in aid of the Emo Rath Senior Citizens.

On Sunday August 31 a cycle to suit all ages and abilities will take place from early in the morning.

The Fisherstown cycle challenge will start from Fisherstown with registration from 9am. The first cycle will take place from 10.30am and is a 100km which will go around the county, taking in Mountmellick, Mountrath, The Cut and back to Emo.

The 50km cycle will start from 11am and will travel to Monasterevin and Rathangan, before heading back towards Portarlington and back to the Fisherstown.

From 11.15am, there will be family, juvenile and high nellie cycles which will take in some local scenery.

The cost to enter is €20 for the 100km and 50km races; €5 for adults and high nellies; and €3 for juveniles.

After the race is finished, there will be a bouncy castle for the children, and refreshments for the cycle participants.
