Cullohill Tidy Towns in action.

Do you know that there are 32 Tidy Towns Groups in Laois. If you are looking to do something different for the New Year why not help out with your local group.

Towns’ groups work tirelessly to improve the areas in which we live and a few hours a week can make a huge difference.

The Tidy Towns is a popular and highly sought after form of recognition which encourages the people of Laois to embrace the spirit of co-operation to carry out community based environmental initiatives.

Laois Federation of Tidy Towns was established in 1998. These groups have been conserving and enhancing the local environment in their community and are an invaluable resource.

The programme began with local communities focusing on litter and on providing civic pride, but now incompasses much wider programme of environmental initiatives that seek to ensure that our own towns and villages become more sustainable and improve their environmental, economic and social performance.

Laois County Council is actively working with the Tidy Towns Committees to help invest in their future and ensure continued growth and development. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer in your community you contact a member or check the local newspapers / newsletter to find out what is happening in your area.

If you do not have contact details for your local group please contact Siobhan Donoher who will assist you in this regard. Email: or Tel: 057 86 74330
