FIVER FRIDAY Appeal

St. Clare’s Hospitality Founded was founded to help struggling families in the Carlow/Laois area; to give a human and Christian response to “Feed the Hungry”; to distribute food parcels, 10 basic food items valued at €10 every Wednesday, (at present 130 being given out; Free lunches in St Fiacc’s Hall each Thursday 12.00 noon to 3pm. Envelopes will be delivered to households during the coming week. If you would like to help in this important work/mission by making a €5 donation, please place your donation in this envelope and drop it to any of the following places between Friday 09 and Friday 16 May. If by chance you do not received an envelope you can help by placing your donation in any envelope and placing it in any location listed as follows: Parish Centre Graiguecullen, Hennessy’s Garage Graiguecullen, Parish Centre Askea, Connie Byrne Hyland Hairdressers and Parish Centre Cathedral.

NOVENA

The Ninth Solemn Novena has begun on Monday nights beginning last Monday 05 May and will run for nine consecutive nights. We invite people during Lent to place their petitions in the petition boxes in St Clare’s. The Theme for this year’s Novena is “Our Faith – Our Story” and each night of the Novena a guest speakers will speak on this theme. Below is a list of the full programme of our guest speakers for the Novena.

The second Novena night is on Monday 12 May, Maria Kidney, Friends of Londiani Kenya will speak.

MONSTER BINGO

Monster Parish Bingo on Tuesday 06 May at 8.30 in Graiguecullen Hall. Great money to be won. All lines checks €50, double lines €60, full houses from €150 to €200 plus Jackpot, interval and flyer also. All loose sheets €2 each, six panel book €5, double book €10. Everyone welcome and bring a friend.

EVERGREENS’ HOLIDAY 2014

Staying at Dromoland Inn, Co Clare. Five Days and four nights, 09 to 13 June. Dinner and bed and breakfast Cost €285 per person sharing. Single supplement is €15 per night. Price also includes bus and trips each day and traditional Irish night including four course traditional dinner in Bunratty Folk Park. First bus is full now. KILLESHIN FC

Whist every Wednesday night in Old Den beside Killeshin Hall at 8.30pm, beginners at 7.30pm and its all in aid of Killeshin Soccer Club. Contact Antoinette for details 085 7483893.

BOOKS WANTED

Killeshin Community Development is going to erect outside free library boxes in the Killeshin area initially with more area’s being considered. These will work on an honesty policy of borrowing a book. They require adult and children fiction and non-fiction books in good condition. Any donations of books can be left into the Den, Killeshin.

HOLY COMMUNION

The children from St Fiacc’s NS will receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday 10 May at two Special Masses in St Clare’s at 10.30am and 12.30pm. We ask God’s blessings on the children and their families and we thank their teachers and all who have helped them reach this stage of their faith journey. Please note there will be no 10am Mass in St Clare’s next Saturday.

KILLESHIN YOUTH CAFÉ

We are now seeking Adult and Teen volunteers who will work with a group of up to 30 teenagers in our Community Centre one evening each week. Upcoming Child Protection course will be held in Portlaoise Youth Cafe on 26 May from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Volunteer leaders require Garda Vetting and Child Protection Training. PARISH BINGO

CANCER service

The Irish Cancer Society is offering a free transport service to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments in The Mater, Tullamore, Blanchardstown, St James’s and Tallaght. Contact their treatment team in hospital or call Gail on 01 2310 566.

Free eight week programme for older people in Graiguecullen starting on Thursday 08 May, 2pm to 4pm in Graiguecullen Parish Centre. Light exercise, relaxation techniques and holistic advice. Please phone Val on 086-8249327 to book your place.

CARLOW SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Carlow Special Olympics Club is continuously looking for volunteers. Do you have an hour or two to spare, once a week or once a month or even just occasionally, then they would love to hear from you. If you are over 16 years and would like more information on becoming a volunteer please contact the Volunteer Co-Ordinator, Tess Fitzpatrick at 086 3366054. YOUTH MINISTRY SPACE

Youth Alpha Film Series continues Thursday next, 08 May from 4.30 to 5.30 in the Parish Centre. Open to all secondary school students. New members are welcome each week but RSVP essential. Light refreshments afterwards.

Youth Pilgrimage; we’re travelling to Glendalough for an overnight stay with our Young Adult Pilgrimage this year. Please save the date Tuesday 05 to Wednesday 06 August. We need approximate numbers in order to secure accommodation. Please Contact Cathriona in the parish centre to save your place.

CORK TO CARLOW CYCLE

The 36 Annual Cork to Carlow Cycle in aid of County Carlow Wheelchair Association will take place on the 14 and 15 June with further details later. All monies raised stays in Carlow and County to support local services.

ÉIST CANCER SUPPORT

Éist Cancer Support Centre is now looking for walkers, joggers or runners to participate in this year’s Flora Mini Marathon on June 02 next.
