FOOD APPEAL

St. Clare’s Hospitality Founded was founded to help struggling families in the Carlow/Laois area; to give a human and Christian response to “Feed the Hungry”; to distribute food parcels, 10 basic food items valued at €10 every Wednesday, (at present 130 being given out; Free lunches in St Fiacc’s Hall each Thursday 12.00 noon to 3pm. Envelopes will be delivered to households to help by making a €5 donation, please place your donation in this envelope and drop it to any of the following places between Friday 09 and Friday 16 May: Parish Centre Graiguecullen, Hennessy’s Garage Graiguecullen, Parish Centre Askea, Connie Byrne Hyland Hairdressers and Parish Centre Cathedral.

SOLEMN NOVENA

The Ninth Solemn Novena has begun on Monday nights beginning last Monday 05 May and will run for nine consecutive nights. We invite people during Lent to place their petitions in the petition boxes in St Clare’s. The Theme for this year’s Novena is “Our Faith – Our Story” and each night of the Novena a guest speakers will speak on this theme. The third Novena night is on Monday 19 May, John McAreavey, Personal Testimony, will speak.

KILLESHIN FC

Recent Lotto results, numbers drawn were 02, 08, 12 and 27. There was no winner. The €25 lucky dip winners were Patsy Reddy, Steven Devereux, Sonia Hayden, Katelyn and Amy. The seller’s prize went to Joe Whelan. The Jackpot now stands at €5,500

HOLY COMMUNION

The children from Killeshin NS will receive their First Holy Communion next Sunday 18 May at 10.15am and 12.30pm. We ask God’s blessings on the children and their families and we thank their teachers and all who have helped them reach this stage of their faith journey.

BOOKS WANTED

Killeshin Community Development to erect outside free library boxes in the Killeshin area initially with more area’s being considered. These will work on an honesty policy of borrowing a book. They require adult and children fiction and non-fiction books in good condition. Any donations to the Den, Killeshin.

SACRAMENTS

The next Mass of the parish programme takes place next Saturday 17 May at 6.30pm in St Clare’s Church for the children of St Fiacc’s NS. Confirmation Ceremony of Light; this ceremony and reconciliation service for the children of St Fiacc’s NS and their families will be held on this Wed 14 May at 7.30pm in St Clare’s Church.

KILLESHIN YOUTH CAFÉ

We are now seeking Adult and Teen volunteers who will work with a group of up to 30 teenagers in our Community Centre one evening each week. Upcoming Child Protection course will be held in Portlaoise Youth Cafe on 26 May from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Volunteer leaders need Garda Vetting and Child Protection Training. Bingo every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in St Fiacc’s Hall. Jackpot €2,130 in 50 numbers. Check on double number and win €2,560.

The Irish Cancer Society is offering a free transport service to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments in the following hospitals: The Mater, Tullamore, Blanchardstown, St James’s and Tallaght. A free eight week programme for older people in Graiguecullen started on Thursday last, 2pm to 4pm in Graiguecullen Parish Centre. Light exercise, relaxation techniques and holistic advice. Please phone Val on 086-8249327 to book your place.

CARLOW SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Carlow Special Olympics Club is continuously looking for volunteers. Do you have an hour or two to spare, once a week or once a month or even just occasionally, then they would love to hear from you. YOUTH MINISTRY SPACE

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
