CORK TO CARLOW CYCLE

The 36 Annual Cork to Carlow Cycle in aid of County Carlow Wheelchair Association will take place on the 14 and 15 June with further details later. All monies raised stays in Carlow and County to support local services.

Éist Cancer Support Centre is now looking for walkers, joggers or runners to participate in this year’s Flora Mini Marathon on June 02 next. SOLEMN NOVENA

The Ninth Solemn Novena has begun on Monday nights and will run for nine consecutive nights. The Theme for this year’s Novena is “Our Faith – Our Story” and each night of the Novena a guest speakers will speak on this theme. The fourth Novena night is on Monday 26 May, Magnus MacFarlane, Founder of Mary’s Meals, will speak.

KILLESHIN FC

EXAM MASS

A special Mass to pray for all who will be sitting their Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations in June will be celebrated at 6.30pm next Saturday 31 May in St Clare’s. We take this opportunity as a parish community to pray for our students that they will try their best and have peace during the days ahead.

FREE LIBRARY BOXES

Killeshin Community Development is going to erect outside free library boxes in the Killeshin area initially with more area’s being considered. These will work on an honesty policy of borrowing a book. We require adult and children fiction and non-fiction books in good condition. Any donations of books can be left into the Den, Killeshin

CEREMONY OF LIGHT

This ceremony and reconciliation service for the children of Killeshin NS and their families will be held on this Wednesday 28 May at 7.30pm in Holy Cross Church.

Killeshin, Friday 06 June at 7.30pm. Sleaty, Friday 13 June at 7.30pm. Leaugh, Wednesday 18 June at 7.30pm and St Mary’s, Monday 14 July at 7.30pm.

HOLY LAND

A reunion for all those who travelled on the recent pilgrimage will be held this Friday 30 May in the parish centre beginning with Mass at 7.30pm.

cOMMUNITY GAMES

Athletics training takes place on Tuesday and other evenings in St Fiacc’s School at 6.30pm. Any child interested in representing our area in swimming under 8 to under 16. Under 8’s and 10’s must be capable of swimming one full length, Under 12s and upwards must be capable of swimming two full lengths of pool. Please contact Paul 087 6121666 before Tuesday 27 May. EIST CANCER SUPPORT

A beautiful walk along the River Barrow from St Mullins to Graiguenamanagh and back again the latter is optional, is being organised in aid of Éist Cancer Support and Carlow Kilkenny Homecare on Bank Holiday Monday 02 June. The walk will begin on the Quay in St Mullins at 11am. Your support on the day would be greatly appreciated. Let’s make it a great success again this year. Sponsorship cards are available from Mary Ellen Doyle, Cathy Kehoe, Mary Coady or donations are also welcome on the day. The Eist Cancer Support Centre is open on Tuesday to Thursday from 9.30am to 4pm. The centre caters for anyone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis, their families and carers. The centre is currently running a drop in relaxation and meditation programme each Tuesday morning at 11am. The next meeting of our bereavement group will take place on this Wednesday May 28 at 10.30am at the centre, please phone to confirm attendance. Counselling and Reflexology are by appointment only. PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine is on Sunday 01 June led by Bishop Denis Nulty with the Diocesan Choir. Director will be Fr Liam Lawton. Ceremonies in the Basilica begin at 2.30pm. The Bishop wrote “Following the outstanding diocesan response to the recent Chrism Mass, I invite all parishioners across the Diocese to join with me in pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. I trust it will be both a joyful and uplifting experience for all of us who travel, under the guidance and protection of Our Blessed Lady. MONTHLY MEETING

The Secular Franciscan Order Monthly Meeting in the Friary, Dublin Street will be a two hour retreat given by Fr Patrick Flynn OFM Cap from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday 29 May. All members are asked to attend. All are welcome.

The Irish Cancer Society is offering a free transport service to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments in the following hospitals: The Mater, Tullamore, Blanchardstown, St James’s and Tallaght.
