Hugely popular and active

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Pat Drennan Ratheniska, who passed away recently.

A hugely popular man in the community, his passing brought great sadness to all who had come into contact with him over his long and active life.

Pat’s influence in the Ratheniska and Portlaoise stretched from his days of playing with the Park/Ratheniska GAA Club, where he was a member of the first ever hurling side to win Championship silver back in 1958. He was a great supporter of the club up to the time of his passing.

Pad, as he was affectionately known, was a driving force in the founding of the local Water Scheme and was a very influential member of the local IFA. Pad also donated generously of his time to the Portlaoise Swimming Pool over the years. Beloved husband of Peggy and much loved father of Caroline, Pad will be deeply regretted by his loving family, son in law Tom (O’Donnell), grandchildren Jim and Tom, sisters Eileen, Pauline and Chris, extended family relatives and friends.
