Hit Fine Gael/Labour in the ballot box

Counting the vote.

Counting the vote.

Editor,

Now that the date for the Local and European elections has been set for Friday May 23rd it is time for all of us to show them here in Laois who support the policies of Fine Gael and Labour what we think of them by voting them out of office.

May 23rd is the day when we will remember the words of the FG Taoiseach Enda Kenny when he said that it was the people’s own fault that he had to pay back billons of euros to unsecured European bankers. We’ll also remember the words of Pat Rabbitte when that famous night on telly he admitted that the Labour candidates told porky pies and made promises to the electorate, because ‘that is what you do during an election campaign to get elected.’

And how can we forget the U-turns made by both FG and Labour on the closure of hospitals and the reduction of student grants. The imposition of property taxes, despite parties saying they would not impose them. The cutting of sick children’s medical cards. The decreasing of young people’s dole money to €100. The hounding of people off family bogs and the imposition of water meters and water taxes.

Other people can add their own reasons why they will not be voting for FG and Labour candidates.

But for whatever reasons you have lets all get together and don’t give any votes to FG and Labour candidates which would allow them to continue their cruel and unfair attacks on ordinary honest working people and their families.

It’s now our chance to hit them back where it hurts them, in the ballot box.
