Time to cease fluoridation of water

It is encouraging to see that Laois Councillors unanimously called for the immediate cessation of public water fluoridation in Ireland at the council meeting on 24th February last.

98% of Europe’s population receives water that is not fluoridated.

Switzerland was the last European country to end fluoridation in 2000.

What a pity that Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and Labour Party TD’s voted down the Sinn Féin sponsored  “Fluoridation of Water Supplies Repeal Bill 2013” in Dáil Éireann on Friday November 8th 2013.

For the record, Charles Flanagan (FG), Marcella Corcoran Kennedy (FG), Sean Fleming (FF) and Barry Cowen (FF) voted against removal of fluoride from our drinking water.

Willie Brock Cumann members carried out a water survey in Mountmellick and campaigned regarding water discoloration and high lead levels in some homes in Lord Edward Street.

We are aware that a large percentage of people want fluoride removed from their water supply.

We are now having Water Rates imposed on us by this Government and will have to pay for the privilege of drinking medicated water.
