Heywood Community School won the semi-final of the Mental Health Ireland public speaking competition recently, securing a place in the national final in Trinity College on Saturday April 5.

The topic was ‘hope has the audacity to reach a hand into the darkness and come out with a handful of light’.

The students showed some excellent researching skills and content, and a flawless delivery in public speaking.

Best of luck to the Heywood team, which consists of Aaron Phelan, Emily Walsh, Jack O’Hara and Ella Barrett.
