Residents in Marian Avenue are gearing themselves up for their second annual family fun day which takes place on Sunday August 17.

The fun day which was first held last year, was a great success and organisers are hoping to make it better than ever with lots of activities to suit young and old. The fun day is not just for Marian Avenue residents - everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the festivities.

The group are making the most of the facilities available to them and the day will take place on the green in the estate. There will be an old fashioned fair, with skilled and card games, as well as wheel of fortune, lucky straw pick, lucky lollypop pick and target games. There will also be some three legged races, egg and spoon races and some family races, as well as a bouncy castle. All these activities are free.

A shop will be set up in the estate’s round house, and as well as this, people will be able to see all the work that has been completed so far on the building. When finished, the house will be available as a community centre for locals to meet up and there are plenty of different activities planned.

Some external work and gardening still has to be finished on the house, which will be officially opened in September. The work has been completed by a number of local people, and many businesses in the area have also supported the cause. The fun day takes place from 2pm to 5pm and all are welcome.
