THE SIX MARYS

A play ‘The Six Marys’ written and performed by Jean Farrell taking a comical look at life growing up in Ireland in the 50s & 60s will be performed in Mountrath Golf Club on Friday January 17 at 8pm. Local entertainers will also perform. Tickets €10 available from Jean’s sister, Sheelagh Coyle contact 057 8624421.

LATE FRANK LAWLOR

The death occurred on Friday December 13 of Frank Lawlor of Wolfe Tone Court and formerly of Aughaas, Kilcavan. Remains reposed at his brother Michael’s home in St Joseph’s Tce until removal to St Mary’s Church Clonaghadoo on Sunday morning. Requiem mass was celebrated at 10.30am with burial afterwards to St Mary’s cemetery.

The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Frank’s family, relatives and friends.

LATE NOEL LYNCH

The death occurred on Saturday December 28 of Noel Lynch of Chapel St. Remains reposed at his residence until removal to St Joseph’s Church on Monday morning. Requiem mass was celebrated at noon with burial afterwards to St Joseph’s cemetery. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Noel’s wife Patricia, daughters Helen, Joan, Susan and Trish, sons Willie, Donal and Niall, family, relatives and friends.

LATE MARGARET KEARNEY

The death occurred suddenly on Sunday December 29 of Margaret Kearney (neé Moore) of Irishtown and formerly of Stradbally. Remains reposed at her residence until removal on Wednesday morning to St Joseph’s Church. Requiem mass was celebrated at noon with burial afterwards to Oakvale cemetery Stradbally. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Margaret’s husband Eugene, family, relatives and friends.

COMHALTAS

Comhaltas celebrated a wonderful achievement of 25 years of traditional music classes recently in The Gandon Inn. Present and past members and committee, county board members and members of other branches in the county attended. There was much music, song, dance and poetry enjoyed. DVDs of the night are available, €5 each, information at the classes. Some people were interested in the older DVDs which were shown on the night. Further information also available at the classes.
