ST FINTAN’S fundraiser
The GAA club will be holding a fundraising event on Saturday February 15. This will be a recycling drive in aid of the Mountrath Development fund. Please drop off all items between 9am - 5pm to the GAA grounds. Please donate all clean unwanted clothes also bed linen, towels, and curtains, shoes bags belts and soft toys. Wearable clothes will be will be recycled and reused and other items will be recycled for items, such as, industrial wipes or soundproofing. Laptops (must be intact with lead also mobile phones are accepted but please keep separate. Books are accepted but no school books (text or copy), magazines or diaries. No household bric a brac. If you cannot make it to the club house on the day, please contact 087-9173804,or 085-2445611, or 085-2445610, before February 15. To make arrangements for collection of items. Congratulations to Aine Purcell, the Mountrath and District Camera Club’s Photographer of the Year 2013. Also congratulations to 2nd Place Thomas Ryan and 3rd Place Lori Strang. Well done everyone and great things now expected this year! Our next meeting is Tuesday January 28 2014 in METAC at 7.45-9pm. And just to make sure everyone is focused (pun intended), our theme for January (New) will be judged by Alf Harvey on January 28. Themes for upcoming months are as follows; January – New, February - Winter Wonderland March – Detail. As always one photo per person, photo size is 8 x 6 inches. Membership renewal take places during January. New members are always welcome and the start of the year is a great time to join up!
Knitting Club: The knitting group continues to meet every Friday morning 10:30-12:30. New members always welcome.
The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

Late Fintan O’Connor
Condolences to the family of the late Fintan (Fint) O’Connor of Cuddagh, Castletown, Mountrath who died peacefully on January 12 in the loving care of St Brigid’s Hospital, Shaen. Deeply regretted by his loving brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed at Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown. Removal to St Edmund’s Church with burial immediately afterwards in Churchtown Cemetery, Castletown. Donations in lieu if desired to St. Brigid’s Hospital, Shaen.
