Late Elizabeth Kelly

Condolences to the family of the late Elizabeth (Lil) Kelly (née Wall) of 4 St. Fintan’s Terrace, Mountrath, who died at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise on January 17. Beloved wife of Jack. Sadly missed by her daughters Rita and Paula, son Fintan, extended family, relatives, neighbours, and friends. Reposed at her home. Removal to St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath, for Funeral Mass followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Late Marcella McGOVERN

Condolences to the family of the late Marcella Madge McGovern (nee O’Reilly) of Rushin Road, Mountrath, who died on January 15 in the care of Carthage’s Nursing Home, Mucklagh. Pre- deceased by her husband Peter; deeply regretted by her beloved family Paddy and Gerry, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at Burke’s Funeral Home, Mountrath with removal to St Edmund’s Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass. Burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Late RONALD COPELAND

Condolences to the family of the late Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Copeland of Paddock, Mountrath who died peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise on January 22. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Nora, son Jim, daughter Ann, brother Brian extended family relatives and friends. Reposing at the home of Ann and Mick Heffernan Redcastle. Removal to St.Edmund’s Church, Castletown. Funeral followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

GAA Fundraiser

The club will be holding a fundraising event on Saturday February 15. This will be a recycling drive in aid of the Mountrath Development fund. Please drop off all items between 9am - 5pm to the Gaa grounds. Please donate all clean unwanted clothes also bed linen, towels, and curtains, shoes bags belts and soft toys. Wearable clothes will be will be recycled and reused and other items will be recycled for items, such as, industrial wipes or soundproofing. Laptops (must be intact with lead also mobile phones are accepted but please keep separate. Books are accepted but no school books (text or copy), magazines or diaries. No household bric a brac. If you cannot make it to the club house on the day, please contact 087-9173804,or 085-2445611, or 085-2445610, before February 15. To make arrangements for collection of items. Thank you for your support, for taking the time and effort to support our fundraising drive.

Cameral Club

Next meeting is tonight, Tuesday January 28 in METAC at 7.45-9pm. Theme for January (new) will be judged by Alf Harvey on January 28. Themes for upcoming months: January – New, February - Winter Wonderland March – Detail. One photo per person, photo size is 8 x 6 inches. Membership renewal in January and new members are welcome.

The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

DOG FOULING

Dog fouling is a growing litter problem in the town, every path in the town is covered in it daily. It is a nightmare for walkers and a health hazard for young children. Local awareness to identify the dog owners responsible is required. Please contact the Council’s freephone litter hotline @ 1800 32 32 30 with specific details if witnessed i.e. name and address of dog owner, location, time and date.
