ST AENGUS TABLE QUIZ

St Aengus juvenile soccer club table quiz in The Pub Olly Gormans on Friday February 7 at 9pm to raise funds to develop new facilities at New Line Road. Support will be greatly appreciated. Journalist and RTE broadcaster Brenda Power will be the host on the night, so come along and bring your friends for a great night out.

MOUNTRATH CS

Mountrath Community School’s Parents Association have organised a talk by John Lonergan on “Parenting - The Challenges and the Rewards”, on Monday February 10 at 7.30pm. The talk will be held in the school. All parents and students are welcome.

COMMUNITY ALERT

A Public Meeting for Mountrath Community Alert will be held in St Fintan’s Hall on Tuesday Night the February 4 at 8 pm Sharp. Hall opens at 7pm for interested parties offering advice, distributing brochures, leaflets and displaying wares and also to answer any queries you may have.

SCOIL BHRIDE

The Parents Council thank all who supported our hugely successful Gospel Choir Fundraiser. Sincerest thanks to our many sponsors who’s help & support was greatly appreciated in continuing to help our children’s school.

GAA Fundraiser

The club will be holding a fundraising recyling day on Saturday February 15 for the Mountrath Development fund. Drop all items between 9am - 5pm to the GAA grounds. Please donate all clean unwanted clothes also bed linen, towels, & curtains, shoes bags belts & soft toys. Wearable clothes will be recycled and reused and other items to be recycled, such as, industrial wipes or soundproofing. Laptops (must be intact with lead also mobile phones are accepted but please keep separate. Books are accepted but no school books (text or copy), magazines or diaries. No household bric a brac. Camera club

Mountrath & District Camera Club thanks Alf Harvey who judged our ‘New’ theme during our last meeting. Winners: 1st- Aine Purcell, 2nd- Lori Strang, 3rd- Peter Haslam, and 4th- Heather Rice. Congrats to our Top 4 on the night and well done to all who entered. Our meetings at the new time of 9pm to facilitate members who attend Metac photography classes. The February theme is Winter Wonderland. Photo size = 8 x 6 inches STRICTLY - nothing under or above this size accepted. One photo per person. Membership renewal until the end of February at the latest, new members always welcome.

Late Kathleen BERGIN

Condolences to the family of the late Kathleen Bergin of Derrylusk, Mountrath and formerly of The Square, Roskelton, Mountrath who died on January 28 peacefully in the loving care of St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick. Deeply regretted by her loving nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed at Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath. Removal to St Fintan’s Church, Mountrath for Funeral Mass. Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery Raheen.

Late MARGARET DOWLING

Condolences to the family of the late Margaret Dowling, Mountrath who died on January 25 after a short illness at the Mater Hospital Dublin. Deeply regretted by her beloved brothers Thomas and Seamus, sisters Kathleen, Bernadette and Pauline, extended family, relatives and friends. Late Dorothy Mildred WHITE

Condolences to the late Dorothy Mildren White (née Rainsberry) of Cavansheath, Mountrath who died at the Droimnin Nursing Home Stradbally on January 29. Beloved wife of the late Fred, deeply regretted by her sister Violet, extended family, relatives, and her very kind neighbours and friends. Funeral to St John the Baptist Church, Ballyfin for Prayers and Funeral Service followed by Burial in the adjoining Churchyard.

DOG FOULING

Dog fouling is a growing litter problem in the town, every path in the town is covered in it daily. It is a nightmare for walkers and a health hazard for young children. Local awareness to identify the dog owners responsible is required. Please contact the Council’s freephone litter hotline @ 1800 32 32 30 with specific details if witnessed i.e. name and address of dog owner, location, time and date.
