ST PATRICK’S DAY

This year The St Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 16 at 12.30pm. The assembly point for participants is the GAA field. We hope to see all of you out on the day to enjoy and support the occasion. Also there will be a prize given to the best dressed window display of the business premises in the town. We the committee are looking for volunteers to help out on the day for more information on this please contact Celine on (087 2179504) or at her hair salon, Main St, Mountrath.

PLAYGROUND

A bucket collection will be held on March 16 during the St. Patrick’s Day parade for the maintenance of the playground/park. This is the only collection taken up each year for the continued maintenance of the playground/park. We would greatly appreciate your support on the day for this great amenity in our town.

Jam for Hospice

The proceeds from the sale of jam made by Mary Doheny to the Laois Hospice for 2013 was €1,850. Congrats to all concerned. The sale of jam continues in Costcutters, Mountrath and Phelan’s Shop, Castletown. Thanks to all for supporting for this worthy cause by buying jam and donating fruit. The sale of jam continues in the shops.

LAOIS HEART FOUNDATION

The Mountrath branch of the Laois Heart Foundation will hold their monthly meeting in the Cosy Cafe, The Square Mountrath on Tuesday March 18 at 8 pm.

Brigidine Reunion

There will be a Brigidine Past Pupils’ Lunch on Sunday April 6th at 1pm in the Kaedeen Hotel, Newbridge. If interested, please contact Maeve at 087 6569975.

LADIES FOOTBALL

All age groups & skill levels wanted to join. Training resumes on March 31 from 6-7pm in Burke’s Field, Shannon Rd. Please contact 085-1119550 for more details.

Rambling House

There will be a rambling house session on Friday, March 14 at 8pm at An Sean Chistin,Irey,Ballyfin. It will consist of music,song,dance,stories,with a cuppa and chat. All are welcome to take part or just come along to listen and enjoy. As the name suggests it takes place in a house which has been specially prepared for such events. Late Moira DELANEY

Condolences to the family of the late Maoira Delaney of The Square, Mountrath, who died on Saturday, March 1 in the care of Oakdale Nursing Home Portarlington. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a large circle of friends. Reposed at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath. Removal to St. Fintan’s Church Mountrath for Funeral Mass followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

Late ANN FITZPATRICK

Condolences to the family of the late Ann Fitzpatrick of Clonbarrow, Mountrath who died at St Vincent’s Hospital Mountmellick, deeply regretted by her sorrowing sons, daughters, grandchildren extended family and friends. Reposed at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath. Removal to St. Fintan’s Church Mountrath for Funeral Mass followed by Burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery.
