The Aware Support Group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other mood related conditions meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in St Peter and Pauls Parish Centre, Portlaoise.

This service is free of charge, no referral is required and you do not need to book.

ST FINTANS GAA MOUNTRATH

The lotto jackpot worth €3600 and held in Johnny Purcell’s was not won.

The next jackpot which will be held in Tom Delaney’s is worth €3800.

Training continues for all underage teams.

Our minor hurlers, although playing very well at stages, were very unfortunate in the league semi final against Abbeyleix Gaels on Monday last in Trumera.

We now look forward to the championship.

LIBRARY NEWS

To tie in with the reading challenge we will be hosting a mythical creatures drawing workshop on Tuesday August 5 11am -12am. The workshop is suitable for girls and boys aged between 8-12 years old.

This is a free workshop but places are limited so booking is essential.

Knitting Club

The knitting club continues to meet every Friday morning 10:30-12:30pm all welcome. Why not drop in for a chat and a cuppa.

LAOIS HEART FOUNDATION

The Mountrath branch of the Laois Heart foundation will hold their monthly meeting on July 16 in the Cosy Cafe Mountrath at 8pm. All members are asked to attend.

New members are also welcome to join in.

LAOIS HOSPICE

The sale of jam continues in Costcutters Mountrath and Phelan’s Shop Castletown.

We would like to thank everyone for their support for this worthy cause by buying jam and donating fruit.

OUTDOOR GYM

The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages.

We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

DOG FOULING

Dog fouling is a growing litter problem in the town, every path in the town is covered in its daily. It is a nightmare for walkers and a health hazard for young children.

Local awareness to identify the dog owners responsible is required.

Please contact the Council’s Free-phone litter hotline @ 1800 32 32 30 with specific details if witnessed i.e. name and address of dog owner, location, time and date.

MONEY FOUND

A sum of cash was found this afternoon (Wednesday July 9) on Main Street near Telfords.

If any hears of anyone losing money please contact us.
