Santa claus visits

Mountrath Foróige’s Santa’s Christmas Wonderland on Sunday Dec 15 in the childrens Park Mountrath from 3pm – 5 pm. All Primary School are welcome to come along to visit Santa in his very own magical house in the Park. For €5 per child you can get to visit Santa and get a gift. You will be welcomed to take your own photographs. Each child will receive a ‘goodie bag’ from Santa’s’ helpers also. You can play in the park while to wait to see Santa. It promises to be a great evening of fun and real Christmas spirit. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Camera Club

The Mountrath and District Christmas Party takes place on Saturday, December 14 in Mountrath Golf Club. Tickets for buffet and music are €20, tables booked for 8pm, doors open from 7pm or €10 for entry to music only after 9pm. Contact a committee member for tickets and more details ASAP as places are limited.

There will be a presentation on the night for ‘Photographer Of The Year’, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Winners will only be revealed on the night so it would be lovely to see all members come along and celebrate our 1st year as a club and to cheer on the winners.

MOUNTRATH DOES STRICTLY

The DVD will go on sale Sunday December 1 2013. It can be purchased in Centra, Costcutters and Tina Daly’s. The cost of the DVD is €10. All proceeds will go to St Fintan’s G.A.A, Mountrath, and Re - Development Fund. Your ongoing Support as always is very much appreciated.

Late Elizabeth sinnott

Condolences to the family of the late Elizabeth (Liz) Sinnott (née Hensey) of Shannon Road, Mountrath, who died on Saturday November 30 at St Luke’s Hospital Dublin. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband Bill, sons, daughters, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposed at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath with removal to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath for Funeral Mass followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath. Donations if desired to St Luke’s Hospital Dublin.

Late JOHN HETHERINGTON

Condolences to the family of the late John (Jack) Hetherington of Newline Road, Mountrath who died peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise on Sunday, December 1. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife Margaret, son, daughters, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours, relatives and friends. Reposed at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath. Removal to St Fintan’s Church Mountrath, for Funeral Mass followed by burial in St Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

Mountrath’s diaspora

The GAA President Liam O’ O’Neill mett one of Mountrath’s diaspora on a recent trip to China. Kevin Barry Colman lives in Shanghai but is mother is from Mountrath. The born in England (Birmingham) - his dad is from Mayo and mum Mary (nee Hughes) is from Gash, Mountrath. He sends bests wishes to relatives: Agnus (nee Hughes) and Christy Browne and he cousins Mary and Chris Browne.

Charity Gospel Concert

Tullamore Gospel Choir (under the direction of Brendan Keely) and Scoil Bhride Pupils, will perform in St Fintan’s Church Mountrath tonight, Tuesday, December 10, at 7.30p.m. Tickets are available from Costcutters Mountrath, Centra Mountrath, Scoil Bhride and on the door on the night. Tickets €10, children free. A fantastic night assured.

Christmas Sale

Christmas Sale in the Parochial Hall Mountrath on Wednesday, December 11 from 7 30pm at which there will be Holly wreaths, flowers, cakes and stalls.

The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

DOG FOULING

Dog fouling is a growing litter problem in the town, every path in the town is covered in it daily. It is a nightmare for walkers and a health hazard for young children. Local awareness to identify the dog owners responsible is required. Please contact the Council’s freephone litter hotline @ 1800 32 32 30 with specific details if witnessed i.e. name and address of dog owner, location, time and date.
