Big thanks to all who supported this wonderful night on Sunday December 15 in the Heritage Hotel Killenard. We are pleased to tell all who bought tickets and sponsored our raffle for the night, that after expenses Port Lion’s Club and Port St Vincent de Paul were presented with €1,100 each. This money was welcomed by both committees, and you can be assured that it will be used to benefit people locally who need support. Thanks also to all the artists who took part on the night, The Irish Midlands Concert Orchestra, the Portarlington Parish Choir, Allison Sweeney and the Melody Band from Colaiste Iosagain. Also we were very grateful for the assistance and support from the management and staff in the Hotel. Thanks also to the organisers of the event.

Thanks to the ladies who cook the meals for our recipients. A big thanks to all the people of our town for their support during our yearly flag days, and to clubs etc who organise events for the centre, and to people who give personal donations. The centre would not continue without all your support.
Once again the annual St Stephen’s Day charity game in Courtwood GAA Club was a great success. Many thanks to all who turned up to play and also thanks to the spectators. Although it’s rumoured that the older heads again won on the day, referee Arthur O’Connor has yet to submit his official match report. Of course the real winners on the day once again were the local charities who will benefit from the generosity of the community.
