Portlaoise events for Laois Connects

Alternative ways to improve your mental health ia a feature of seversl Laois Connect events in Portlaoise from September 28 to October 5.

Those who want a giggle can head along to a Laughter yoga workshop in Portlaoise Parish Centre on October 2. That afternoon the Dunamaise will be showing ‘Wally’ - a film documentary which has been featured on RTE.

Mark my Words is an evening of art making and writing which also takes place in the Dunamaise on September 30 with artist Angela Delaney and Niamh Boyce , a writer and artist.

A food for thought cookery demo takes place in Telfords on October 2. This demonstration will be given by Edward Hayden from TV3. This will be followed by a talk on mental health by Dr Katherine Browne from the HSE.

Dance for older people will take place on Thursday October 3 at the Dunamaise. This will be facilitated by Alicia Christofi-Walsh and all are welcome.

A recreational drumming workshop with Eddie O’ Neill will take place in Portlaoise Parish Centre on October 4, and everyone is welcome, no experiece necessary.

Also in Portlaoise Parish Centre that day is Lets Dance Together, a music, song and dance session to encourage the integration of community groups. This will be facilitated by Maureen Culleton.
