Cake Sale

Cakes, buns, biscuits or any unwanted gifts are gratefully accepted for a coffee morning and cake sale in the Parish Centre on Saturday, November 24 in aid of the Day Care Centre on the New Road, Portlaoise. Items can be delivered from 9.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday or by contacting 8622944 to arrange collection.

Concert in aid of the Cuisle Centre by The Vard Sister presented by the Laois Writers Group take place at 8.30pm in SS Peter and Paul’s Church on November 16. Tickets €20 from the Centre.

Table quiz

A table quiz in aid of Crumlin Children’s Hospital will be held in Egans in Portlaoise on Thursday November 22 from 9pm. The cost is €40 per table for a team of four. Organisers are looking for any volunteers who can help out with this worthy cause, or donate prizes on the night. Winners will receive €200 and a chance to win a trip for four to New York. ORDER OF MALTA MASS

Order of Malta Portlaoise Unit are holding a Mass for deceased members and their families. This will take place in Parish Church on November 14 at 7.30pm. All welcome. Blessing of the ambulances will take place after mass.

ICA rEPORT

Our monthly meeting took place on Wednesday, November 7 at The SueRyder Centre presided over by guild president Stella Harding. Competition winners on the night were 1st Marion Lawless 2nd Beatrice Fennelly 3rd Bernie O Brien. Line dancing continues on November 14/21/28 from 6 pm to 7pm. Competition for next month: hand made christmas card. The Winter Federation meeting takes place on Sunday, November 25 in St Anne’s hall Ballylinan @ 2pm. Competition for a 24” Christmas wreath. Tickets on sale from all our members for Christmas raffle 1st prize luxury hamper 2nd brandy and chocolates 3rd wine and biscuits draw takes place at The Sue Ryder Centre on Friday December 3 at 8.30pm tickets €2 each.

Scoil Mhuire, Sacred Heart, and Scoil Bhride parish national schools are not accepting junior infant enrolments for next year. Enrolment forms are available from the schools. Please bring copy of Birth cert and baptisimal cert.

Macra 60th Anniversary

Portlaoise Macra will celebrate its 60th Anniversary on Saturday December 8. A blessing of the newly refurbished Portlaoise Macra Hall will be held at 8.00pm, followed by music by “Top Note”. A great nights entertainment is in store and a chance to catch up with Macra members old and new. prison mass

The annual mass for deceased Portlaoise Prison staff will be celebrated on Thursday, November 8 at 7.30pm in SS Peter and Paul’s Church.

PARISH LOTTO

There was no winner of the Portlaoise Parish lotto jackpot worth €20,000 when the numbers were drawn on Thursday, November 8. The numbers drawn were 9,15,17,25. The Match 3s received €77 each. This week’s jackpot is €20,000.

GROOVE THEORY

Presented by the Irish Baroque Orchestra takes plca at 7pm on November 23 St Peters Church, Portlaoise. The concert feature a mix of jazz and classical music.

Singin’ in the Rain

The Portlaoise Musical Society will present their production of ‘Singin in the Rain’ in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
