Midlands Simon Community opens its Simon Shop on Main Street, Portlaoise this week, straight across from O’Loughlin’s Hotel. The shop will be accepting donations of ladies, gents and children’s quality clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, unwanted presents and gift sets. The store will stock primarily high quality womenswear. All money raised in the Portlaoise shop will go towards providing homeless services in Laois. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am-5.30pm. Laois Heritage AGM
Laois Heritage Society AGM in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise, on Monday, January 27 at 8pm. Among the highlights of a busy year were the James Fintan Lalor Autumn School and the Schools Heritage Projects for Primary and second level schools.
There was a full schedule of events throughout the year with a special emphasis on National Heritage Week in August in which members were deeply involved. If you have an in interest in heritage, especially the heritage of Laois, why not come along and show your support for the work of the Society.
