Laois Guide Dogs
The Laois Guide Dogs Association thank all who contributed to its recent church gate collection. A total of €6,230 was collected in Laois. Thanks to all the collectors. The money raised will be used to assist visually impaired people to benefit form guide dog training.

A meeting in connection with the Concern Christmas Fast takes place in the Parish Centre, on Thursday, January 30. All sponsorship cards and money collected should be brought to the meeting.
The LSPCA urges local people to have their cat’s neutered especially as this is mating season. Reduced rates for the service are being offered in conjunction with two local vets. Contact the LSPCA on 087 688 3333. The scheme runs from February 3-18. The LSPCA is not in a position to take unwanted litters.
Foroige CAKE SALE
Daredevil’s Foroige Club is hosting a cake sale on Sunday, February 2 after 12.30pm Mass at the Portlaoise Parish Centre. Fresh cakes and buns for sale for this local club for young people.

Laois Heritage Society AGM in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel, on Monday, January 27 at 8pm. If you have an in interest in heritage, especially the heritage of Laois, why not come along and show your support for the work of the Society.
50+ Active Age Group Portlaoise will hold their AGM on Wednesday, January 29 in the Parish Centre at 3pm. All members are encouraged to attend and participate in the proceedings. Remember indoor bowls continue every Monday at 3pm at St Marys Hall and is also open to non-members. So come along and join in the fun.

Late Pat DRENNAN
Condolences to the family of the late Pat Drennan of Cool-na-Carrig, Ratheniska, Portlaoise who died peacefully at home on Wednesday January 15. Beloved husband of Peggy and much loved father of Caroline. Deeply regretted sisters Eileen, Pauline (recently deceased) and Chris, extended family relatives and friends. Reposed at home. Removal to the Church of the Holy Cross, Ratheniska for requiem mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Late Liz O’LOUGHLIN
Condolences to the family of the late Liz O’Loughlin (née Coyne) of The Old Rectory, Ballickmoyler, and O’Loughlin’s Hotel, Main St, Portlaoise who passed away on January 18. Dearly loved wife of Declan and much loved mother of Ivor, Billy, Kate and Niamh Coyne she is sadly missed by her loving family, brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at her home with removal to the Cathedral of the Assumption Carlow followed by private cremation.
