The Novena to our Lady of Perpetual Help runs each Wednesday at 7.30pm to April 16. The 9-week Novena in SS Peter and Paul’s Church continues on Wednesday, March 19 when former RTÉ news reader speaks on the topic Life after the Newsroom.
Portlaoise Parish Youth group will be providing tea and scones after the novenas on March 19,26 and April 9 to raise money for the Camino Youth Pilgrimage. Donations welcome.
Well done to Portlaoise Boxing Club members Michael O’Reilly and Michael Nevin for their performances at the National Boxing Championships in Dublin. Micheal won gold while young Nevin showed all the signs of a champ.

Portlaoise Youth Cafe are holding a fundraising event/open mic night in our cafe at 7pm on March 28 to showcase our Laois heat winners ‘Elephants in the Coldroom’, all young musicians are welcome, contact 085 2445102 to book. Seachtain na Gaeilge was a busy time for members of Portlaoise Comhaltas who began their celebrations at the PortlaoiseLibrary recently with a rousing performance from beginners and advanced players. They performed music at 11.15 mass and on the Comhaltas float at the Portlaoise parade on St Patrick’s Day.

Condolences to the family of the late William O’Sullivan of 5 Harper’s Lane, Portlaoise who died on March 9. Beloved brother of Johnny, Jimmy, Steve, Michael, Thomas, Noel, Theresa and Anthony. Deeply regretted extended family relatives and friends. Reposed at the Chapel of Rest at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Removal to Ss Peter and Paul’s Church for requiem mass.
