Portlaoise school’s official opening

The new building for Maryborough National School at Summerhill in Portlaoise, will be opened officially this Friday, March 14 by the Bishop of Cashel and Ossory, the Right Reverend Michael Burrows.

There will be a service first at 11am in St Peter’s Church, followed by refreshments at the school. All past pupils are welcome to come along and view the new facilities at the school.

This is also a chance to catch up.

The pupils moved from their original building last September, and are now well settled into their new state of the art surroundings. Also located on the same campus at Summerhill are Gaelscoil Phortlaoise and Portlaoise Educate Together NS.

The original Maryborough NS building was located on the Stradbally Road in Portlaoise and was there for 115 years.

The pupils no doubt are already making many happy memories in their new building which has top class facilities.
