Late Kitty Finn

Condolences to the family of the late Kitty Finn of Graigue, Rathdowney who died on November 29 peacefully at St Theresa’s Nursing Home, Thurles, Kitty was predeceased by her brother Matt she is deeply regretted by her family, relatives and friends. Reposed at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney. Removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Galmoy for Funeral Mass followed by Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

CAROL SERVICE

There will be two practice nights for the Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday, December 11 and 18 at 8pm in the church. The Carol Service will take place on Friday December 20, in the church of the Holy Trinity Rathdowney.

SCHOOL REUNION

There will be a school reunion of Cullohill and Gurteen school in September 2014. Photographs are urgently required for the commemorative school book. If you have any school, class or family photographs that the committee could borrow, (they will be returned to the owners) it would be much appreciated.

BINGO

A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre.

BOOK CLUB

This month’s book is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, the next book club will be on Monday January 20, in Rathdowney Library at 8pm.

CYMS

The draw has been made for the Donie O’Malley Cup. Jack Daly v Liam O’Brien, Fergal O’Reilly v Tom Kearns, Eddie Hayes v Richard Cahill, Terence Smeaton v Adrian Deegan, Tom Whelan v Frank Smeaton, Anthony Costigan v Tony Cantwell. Games are to be arranged by Tony Cantwell. Entry fee is €5. Mass was held in the hall on November 26, the committee would like to thank everyone who attended. Thanks to Fr. Martin for a beautiful mass it was very much appreciated. The CYMS hall is open from 7.30 – 10.00 every night. All very welcome.

GAA 6K WALK

The club are holding a 6km walk in aid of St. Vincent De Paul on St. Stephens day. Registration will take place at 10.30am and the walk will commence at 11am. Entry fee is a voluntary donation. The walk will begin and end at the Rathdowney GAA grounds. There will be light refreshments served in the clubrooms afterwards.

MOVIES IN RATHDOWNEY

Come along for the big screen premiere of Movies at Scoil Bhride. Monsters University will be shown in the school hall on Sunday December 15, at 4pm. Admission €5.

Macra

Over the last few weeks, Rathdowney Macra and a few others helped the Team Hope committee of Laois pack shoeboxes to send to children in countries less well off than us. On Tuesday, December 3 we loaded all the shoeboxes into a big lorry to send to a port. Thanks to all the members of our club that volunteered in any way over the last few weeks.

Laois Macra hold there Christmas party in the Portlaoise Macra hall on December 14.

The county round of Capers is on December 15, best of luck to all the groups taking part.

As 2013 is drawn to an end I want to thank everyone that helped our club in any way throughout the year and wish ye all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
