MEN’S SHED

With the new year, now is the time to come along to the Men’s Shed. It is open every Thursday morning from 10am to 12pm at the old Convent School. The hospitality room is now complete. It is a great opportunity for all men to come together to share their skills and talents, learn new ones, or simply meet for a chat and a cuppa. All new members welcome. We look forward to a New Year with loads of new projects and classes to plan.

Snooker & Billiards

The club ran a juvenile pool tournament on January 3, There were 16 competitions on the night and some excellent play. Congratulations to winner Eugene Aylward, and hard luck to runner-up Peter Meagher. Both players had a great game. Thanks to parents for making the night a success. A special thanks to Pricilla and Carmel for providing food. The committee will be organising another competition in the mid-term. All welcome. Also, there was a ‘Guess the value of the Trolley’ in Breslin’s Supervalu on January 10 which was very successful. A special thanks to everyone for supporting. Congratulations to winner Nuala McCarthy. The committee thanks Connell & Noreen Breslin for their support & use of their premises. Hall open week nights from 7.30-11pm. New members welcome.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

Rathdowney/Errill Hurling club and St Brigid’s Camogie club are hosting Strictly Come Dancing in the Templemore Arms on Saturday March 1. Preparations underway for what will be an enjoyable night for all. Tickets €20 and are available on first come first served basis. RATHDOWNEY GAA

There was no winner in this week’s Jackpot, which was €11,650. The numbers drawn were 4, 11, 21, 28. The 10 winners of €15 were Mairead Gilmartin, Olive Maher, N & S Meagher, Jack Maher, Lucy & Mick, Cormac Bracken, Vinnie Cleere, Willie Byrne, Shay Fitzpatrick, Anne Cummins. Next week’s Jackpot will be €11,800. Tickets can be purchased in all shops or any local promoters.

OSSORY CYCLING CLUB

For those interested in some winter training, Turbo training classes will be held every Wednesday in the Marion Centre at 8pm sharp. The only criteria is that you must have your own turbo trainer, These can be purchased on Done Deal starting for as little as €75 upwards [New]. Cost of training €1 per night.

EASYRIDERS

AGM will be held on Saturday January 25 in Iano’s at 9pm. New route to be planned, new committee to be selected and new cyclists to be enlisted. All welcome.

PANTO

Names for this year’s Panto will be taken on Wednesday January 22 in the Marion Centre. Primary school children 3rd class and up - 7.30 to 8.30pm. Non exam year secondary school children - 8.30 to 9.30pm. All others at 9.30pm. All children should be accompanied by an adult at the signing in stage.

IRISH CLASSES

If you are interested in learning or refreshing your spoken Irish, classes will take place on Mondays at 7.30pm in Scoile Bhride Rathdowney. There is no charge for these classes. Classes suitable for adult beginners, For more details contact 0505-46546.
