Wee Recycling

Free WEEE Ireland electrical and battery recycling morning supported by Laois County Council. All batteries recycled on the day will go towards the “Spread a Little Sunshine” campaign in aid of LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. Takes place on the Town Sq, Rathdowney on Tues, February 4 from 9am- 12pm. .

Late Mary FITZGERALD

Condolences to the family of the late Mary Fitzgerald (née McDonald) of Church Street, Rathdowney, who passed away on January 24 paecefully at St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick. Predeceased by husband Michael, her son Michael and her daughter Theresa, she is deeply regretted by her loving family, her son John and her daughters Jane, Mary and Bernie, extended family, relatives, kind neighbours and friends. Reposed at her residence. Removal to The Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for Funeral mass followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery.

TABLE QUIZ

St Colmcille’s NS Parent’s Council are hosting a Table Quiz on Friday February 7 at 9pm in Ray’s Lounge. Table of 4 €20. Spot prizes and raffle on the night. Please support this worthy cause.

CONDOLENCE

Rathdowney Active Retirement Association wish to send their condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the death of their mother Mary. Mary was a treasured member of the association and will be missed greatly. May she rest in peace.

Group meet on Friday mornings 10-12 in the Marion Centre. All parents and minders with children from new born to pre-school welcome.

Bingo is held every Tuesday at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. It is run by the Community Centre Group.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed is open every Thursday morning from 10-12 at the old Convent School. Hospitality room now complete. Great opportunity for all men to come together and share their skills & talents, learn new ones or simply meet for a chat and a cuppa. New members welcome every.

Hurling & Camógie

Rathdowney/Errill Hurling club and St Brigid’s Camogie club are hosting Strictly Come Dancing in the Templemore Arms on Saturday March 1. GYMNASTICS

Beginners’ gymnastics class on Tuesday February 11 in Scoil Bhride from 4-5pm. €5 per child per class. Children between 6-12 will be accepted. You must book your child prior to class. If interested contact Linda Hayes 087-1258030.

GAA LOTTO

There was no winner in this week’s Jackpot which was €11,950. The numbers drawn were 4, 22, 23, 27. The 10 winners of €15 were Mary Phelan, Ben Stapleton, Evan Treacy, PLL Keane, Michelle Meehan, Mary Condren, Betty Delaney, Liam Delaney, Mary Ann Creagh, Brian Franks. Next week’s Jackpot will be €12,100. Tickets can be purchased in all shops or any local promoter.

TABLE QUIZ

On Saturday the February 22 Ossory Cycling Club are holding a table Quiz in O’Reilly’s lounge at 9pm. Table of four €40. Lots of spot prizes. Your support will be welcome. It is hoped that club members will make a special effort to attend.

GAA NEWS JUVENILE

The annual registration night will take place on Saturday February 8 between 7.30-9pm. Membership for the year is €20 per child and €40 for a family. There will be light refreshments served on the night so come along for a chat or if any new members have any questions they would like to ask the committee they will be there to give a helping hand.

IRISH CLASSES

if you are interested in learning or refreshing your spoken Irish, classes will take place on Monday evenings at 7.30 in Scoile Bhride. There is no charge for these classes. Classes suitable for adult beginners. For more details please contact 0505 46546.
