Condolences to the family of the late Frances Nolan (née Nolan) of Rathdowney who died on Saturday, June 14. Reposed at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney. Removal to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for funeral mass followed by burial in Rathdowney local cemetery.

Late Edward PURCELL

Condolences to the family of the late Edward Purcell of Cascade St, Rathdowney who died on June 16 peacefully at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise following a brief illness. Predeceased by his wife Mary he is deeply regretted by his sons, Edward, Paul and Robert, daughters in law Christine, Mary and Sharon brothers Johnny, Paddy, sisters Nora, Ellen extended family, relatives neighbours and friends. Reposed at his residence and Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney. Removal to the Church of the Holy Trinity Rathdowney. Burial in Bealady Cemetery.

CLEAN UP

Help clean up Rathdowney, a group meet every Wednesday night at 7.30pm in the square, if you can spare an hour please come along and help out. If possible bring a shovel or brush or hoe.

SVP

The St Vincent De Paul shop in Rathdowney are in need of donations, of ladies, gents and children’s clean clothes. Bags, shoes and accessories also accepted. Your donations are very much appreciated and can be dropped into the shop Vincent’s any day.

MUSEUM

Donaghmore Workhouse & Agriculture Museum summer opening hours. The museum will be open all weekends and bank holidays throughout the months of June, July, August and September between the hours of 2pm to 5pm.

BINGO

A great bingo is held every Tuesday night at 8.30pm in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.

LOTTO

Rathdowney GAA Lotto. There was no winner in this week’s jackpot which was €3,250. The numbers drawn were 5, 8, 14, 28. The ten winners of €15 were Gerry Meehan, Patrick Mahon, Breda Loughlin, Ian Maher, Tomas Hickey, Mary Kelly, Robert Stanley, Mary Hanlon, Cathy Fitzgerald, Tom Mahon. Next week’s jackpot will be €3,400. Tickets can be purchased in all shops or from any local promoter.

CEMETERY MASS

Takes place in Bealady Cemetery on Friday June 27, at 8pm. Strictly no parking in the cemetery. Parking available beside the cemetery by kind permission of Michael Maher.

SOCCER AGM

Clover Utd soccer club will hold its AGM this Friday June 27, at 9pm sharp in the clubhouse. All members are requested to attend.

RATHDOWNEY ANGLERS

The winner of last week’s June 13, fly fishing competition was Michael Gillman with 680g, well done. Next competition to be announced.

EASYRIDERS

Thanks to all who supported or took part in our last fundraiser. Special thanks to Iano’s and all those who re-donated their winnings at the poker night. Our next fundraiser will be Rock n Roll bingo with DJ Noel Brennan, details to follow.

OSSORY CYCLING CLUB

Meets every Tuesday night until end of summer months OCC are reintroducing their A, B and Leisure group cycles. Cycles will commence at 7pm sharp. Each group will have its own team leader and each leader will pick a course that will suite their group. We would like to welcome any new Leisure cyclist to joins on our cycles, the leisure cycle is guaranteed to be at a pace that will suite everybody in the group (slow). All are welcome to join us, juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Important, helmets must be worn at all times. No helmet no cycle. PARENT & TODDLER GROUP

The group meets on Friday mornings 10-12 in the Marion Centre.

All welcome parents and minders with children from new born to pre-school.
