Help clean up Rathdowney, a group meet every Wednesday night at 7.30 in the square, if you can spare an hour please come along and help out. If possible bring a shovel or brush or hoe.

SVP shop

St Vincent De Paul the shop in Rathdowney is in need of donations, of ladies, gents and children’s clean clothes. Bags, shoes and accessories also accepted. Your donations are very much appreciated and can be dropped into the shop Vincent’s any day.

Museum hours

Donaghmore Workhouse & Agriculture Museum Summer Opening Hours, the Museum will be open all weekends and bank holidays throughout the months of June, July, August and September between the hours of 2pm to 5pm. If you wish to avail of a tour outside of these hours please phone Trevor on 086 829 6685. The Museum is on Facebook and Twitter please come and join us.

BINGO

A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.

GAA LottO

There was no winner in this week’s Rathdowney GAA lotto jackpot which was €3,700. The numbers drawn were 9, 15, 16, 19. The 10 winners of €15 were Sharon Purcell, Mary Collins, Rebecca Treacy, Mrs Maher, Sharon Whelan, Richard Cahill, Mgt Delaney, Brian Dowling, Margaret Bowe, Eilish Campion. Next week’s jackpot will be €3,850. Tickets can be purchased in all shops or from any local promoter.

EASYRIDERS

Charity cycle training isstill taking place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm from the square, please continue to pay for the trip in Ian Maher’s, The Card Stand or to any committee member.

Winners of Fly Fishing Competition on June 27 are: 3rd Mick Gillman 660g, 2nd Sean Moore 755g, 1st Pat Noonan 1010g. Winners on Friday July 4, of the fly fishing competition for the new Brian Axon Perpetual Cup. Joint 3rd Leonard Moore & Sean Moore 585g. 2nd Eoin Moore 720g, 1st Pat Noonan 930g. Well done to all. Ossory Agricultural Show Society 1898 -2014 Laois County Show will take place on Sunday, July 27 Coolfin, Rathdowney Co Laois. €1,000 Beef Bullock, €1,000 Beef Heifer, €1,000 Fresian Calf Championship, Crossbred Belgian blue championship, Working Hunter Championship, Vintage, Sidesaddle, Cookery Demonstration, Home Produce and side shows. Other attractions : Cattle, Sheep, Horses, Poultry, Craft, Eggs, Flowers, Baking, Jams, Sewing, Knitting, Vegetables, Photography, Flower arrangements. OSSORY CYCLING CLUB

The club meets every Tuesday night until end of summer months OCC are reintroducing their A, B and Leisure group cycles. Cycles will commence at 7pm sharp. Each group will have its own team leader and each leader will pick a course that will suite their group. We would like to welcome any new Leisure cyclist to joins on our cycles, the leisure cycle is guaranteed to be at a pace that will suite everybody in the group [Slow]. All are welcome to join us, Juveniles must be accompanied by a Parent or guardian.Important, helmets must be worn at all times. No helmet no cycle. Anyone for Tennis?

Laois County Council will hold parks tennis in Rathdowney at St Fergal’s College from July 21-25. Lessons from Monday to Friday: 10am-11.30am (5-9 years); 12pm-2pm 10-14 years.
