Four ‘dye hard’ soccer fans from Portlaoise are preparing to make the ultimate sacrifice and dye their hair in their rival’s colours to raise money for cancer support.

Leeds Utd supporters Colm O’Hara and Paul Walla Brown and Manchester Utd supporters Clive Szaglis and Jerry Deegan are hoping to raise at least €1,000 with their ‘ManLee Utd’ event, part of the ‘Shave or Dye’ fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.

Colm is proprietor of Allbooks in Portlaoise.

He is not too worried about how his customers will take to a red and black striped hairstyle, which he promises to keep for a month.

“They know it’s for a good cause, but as secretary of the Leeds Utd Members Club, I’m not too sure how it will go down with them,” he said.

Portlaoise barber Eugene Deegan will be doing the honours on a funfilled night at Bar Habana on Friday February 21 at 8.30pm, all welcome to come along for the banter.

Sponsorship cards are available in Allbooks, Lyster Square, at Eugene’s barber shop, and online at www.mycharity.ie/event/colmoharaseventmanlee united
