Mountmellick Comhaltas

Well done to all members who played at Mass on Sunday. Our next Mass is 9am on St Patricks Day. Annual Concert on March 28 in the Macra Hall. Would musicians who are also members of GAA think about Scór na Paistí in April, open to all primary school children. The Laois Fleadh is on the first weekend of June in Abbeyleix. We encourage all to enter.

Scor Competitions

The GAA Scor Table Quiz is on February 22 in St Pauls School, Portlaoise.6.30pm registration and 7pm start, open to all U17 GAA members. Scór na Paisti is in April, for all GAA members in Primary School who can sing, dance, play music, or do a recitation. The Senior Scor is also in February, for Senior GAA members who can sing, dance etc please do get involved. Call Margaret on 085 713 8940. There is no charge for the above competitions.

Patrick’s day Parade

Thanks to everyone who supported the church gate collection last weekend. €442 was collected towards parade costs. Community groups are invited to participate, your floats bring great fun and entertainment. 1st Prize €75 2nd Prize €50. Vintage car/farm vehicles welcome.

The Thatching Walk

The Rosenallis Development Assoc. have recently re-thatched the well and small house in the amenity area opposite the community centre. We need to raise funds to cover the cost. We are holding a Thatching walk on Sunday 16 February at 2pm. The 7KM walk will start at the thatched house and go towards Clonaslee on the R422 turning left up Gorteen Hill. Turning left towards the Green Road. Turning left again towards Chapel Hill and back to the community centre for refreshments. We are hoping for lots of support please come on the day, sponsorship cards will be available prior to event.

Sympathies

Sympathy offered to the Gorman Family on the death of Tommy Gorman Station House who died suddenly on 17th January. Also to the Hooke Family on the death of Maureen Devine nee Hooke, Palmerstown, Dublin who died on the 20th January our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Late Liz O’LOUGHLIN

Condolences to the family of the late Liz O’Loughlin (née Coyne) of The Old Rectory, Ballickmoyler, and O’Loughlin’s Hotel who passed away on January 18. Dearly loved wife of Declan, of Rosenallis, and much loved mother of Ivor, Billy, Kate and Niamh Coyne she is sadly missed by her loving family, brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives and many friends.
