THE LATE MERVYN GRAHAM

The death occurred on Friday, September 20 of Mervyn Graham, Brockley House, Brockley Park, Stradbally, Laois. Mervyn died suddenly at his residence. He is deeply regretted by his wife Noelle, brother Kenneth, nephew David, niece Hazel and her husband Paul, sister in law Rosemary, relatives and a large circle of friends. His remains were reposing at his residence and funeral prayers were held on Monday followed by removal to St Brigid’s Church, Ballintubbert for funeral service and burial took place immediately afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. Deepest sympathy is offered to his extended family.

STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

The AGM of Stradbally Flower and Garden Club will be held on Wednesday, October 2 in St Joseph’s Hall, at 8pm. Next June will be the World Flower Show and we hope to play our part.

WHIST DRIVE

Whist drive on Friday, September 20. Winners were top score Brigid O’Brien, 1st lady Veronica Kearns, 2nd lady Mary Gowing and Molly O’Brien, 1st gent Michael O’Brien, 2nd gent Teresa Mulhare and Mai Hendy, 1st half Lily Pearson, 2nd half Tom Gowing, lowest score Cecil Thompson, hatching Nellie Thompson. The trick in any one game Tom Finn and Kay Chase, raffles Mary Gowing, Mai Hendy, Eithne Moran, Lily Pearson and Alice Finn. Next whist drive in St Patrick’s Hall is Friday, October 18 at 8.30pm.

PARISH CONCERN GROUP

Church gate collection for the Stradbally Concern Group held on the weekend of September 21 and 22 amounted to €675. Thanks to all who donated and special thanks to the collectors. Anyone who qualifies for an alarm can contact the following Pauline 057 8625359, John 057 8627031 or Joe 057 8625511.

FLU VACCINE

The flu vaccine will be available in Stradbally Medical Practice on the Court Square on Friday, October 4 and Friday, October 11, between 9am and 12 noon. Pneumonia vaccine also available. No appointment necessary. Please bring along your medical card.

STRADBALLY ANGLERS CLUB

Stradbally Anglers Club will hold a juvenile meeting on Monday, October 7 in St Mary’s Hall at 7pm sharp to form a juvenile club for 2014. All juveniles attending must be accompanied by a senior. The meeting will be hosted by Owen Buggy.

COMMUNITY GARDEN FOR ALL ABILITIES

VICARSTOWN RECREATION GROUP

Walking from the bride every Wednesday at 8pm. All welcome.

PRAYER MEETING

Prayer meeting is held every Monday night at 8pm in the Presentation Convent Chapel.

SAFE TALK PROGRAMME

ICA MEETING

Stradbally ICA meeting will be on Tuesday, October 1 in St

Patrick’s Hall commencing at 8pm. New members welcome.

VICARSTOWN RECREATIONAL GROUP

Vicarstown Recreational Group will return on Wednesday, October 2 in the old community centre to arrange events for the coming year.

SYMPATHY
