LATE WINIFRED DEVOY

The death occurred on Tuesday, December 10 in the loving care of the staff and management of Shaen Hospital, of Winifred (Winnie) Devoy, Ballythomas, Stradbally. She is sadly missed by her sister Mary, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. Her remains were reposing at home until removal on Friday to the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally and following requiem mass on Saturday at 12 noon were remains were interred in Oakvale Cemetery.

SOCCER CLUB CHRISTMAS DRAW

The club will hold its Christmas draw and party in Napper Tandy’s lounge on Sunday December 22. There’s €500 in cash prizes on the night plus numerous other spot prizes to be won. Music is supplied by Carlow band ‘Monroe’ and finger food will also be served and everyone is welcome. Tickets at €2 or three for €5 are on sale from all players, management, committee members and Napper Tandy’s.

The Kevin Molloy Memorial Cup game will again take place on St Stephen’s Day, kicking off at 11am in the Lawn in memory of our former team-mate and friend.

GOAL MILE 2013

The GOAL mile 2013 will be held on Christmas Day in Oakvale Woods from 10am-12 noon. It is organised by Billy O’Neill. Proceeds this year to to GOAL project in the Philippines.

WHIST DRIVE

Next whist will be on Friday, December 20. This will be the Christmas whist when the top score will be €60. Other prizes will be turkey vouchers, hams, whisky, wine, christmas cake and other christmas fare. Also at the whist the draw will take place for the winners of the sheet quiz on items of chothing. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Whist will begin at 8.30pm sharp and all are welcome.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVE LIGHTING

The Stradbally Tidy Towns Christmas tree draw will be held in Dunnes on Saturday, December 21. The annual running cost of the tree in 2012 was €740. This covered new lamps, replacement connectors and electricity. The sale of tickets and your support is vital in keeping the tree lit. Tickets are only €2.

COMMUNITY GAMES SILVER CIRCLE

Winners for December 7 were €200 Marie Walsh, Kylebeg and other winners were Olivia Brennan, Marie Walsh, Siobhan Delaney, Tim Delancy and Oran Lawlor.

ST COLMANS BUMBER HAMPER DRAW

The St Colman’s National School Christmas Bumber Hamper Draw will be held on Friday, December 20 in the school. Tickets €2 and book of 11 for €20.

VICARSTOWN GOOSE CLUB

Vicarstown Goose Club held on December 7. What was promising to be a great night’s entertainment was disrupted by power failure beyond the committee’s control. The organisers apologise to all who supported the club in so many ways. All perishable items were donated to the local St Vincent de Paull. Amount raised after three draws was €431 on the night.
