Midlands Art

Work from the Middle is the name of an art exhibition with a midlands theme at the Laois Arthouse, Stradbally, Co Laois from February 27 to March march from 1pm-4pm daily(Monday-Friday), or outside those hours by special request. ELECTRIC PICNIC 2014 RESIDENTS COMMITTEE AGM

At a very well attended residents committee Electric Picnic annual general meeting held in St Mary’s Hall, the following officers were elected for 2014: chairperson Jillian Kennedy, vice chairperson Kevin Barry, secretary Carmel Dillon, vice secretary Brian Lalor, treasurer Betty Redmond, vice treasurer Noel Ryan, PRO Martin Mahon, area representatives Fintan Dunne, Carmel Delaney, Rita Delaney, Mary Burke, Damian Carroll, Donal O’Shea, John Paul Cushen, Aisling Doyle and Conor Brady.

THE LATE BABS COMERFORD

The death occurred on Thursday, February 20 peacefully at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally. Co.Laois of Babs (Mary) Comerford, (nee Rigney) Ballinaclough, Timahoe. Beloved wife of the late Mick, she is sadly missed by her sister in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and extended family, her good neighbours and many friends. Her remains were reposing at The Presentation Chapel, Stradbally, Co. Laois on Thursday evening with removal on Saturday evening to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe and following requiem mass on Sunday at 10.30am her remains were interred in Ratheniska Cemetery.

THE GLEBE RESIDENTS TABLE QUIZ

The Glebe Residents Association invite you to test your general knowledge and have a fun night out at a table quiz in Dunnes Pub, Stradbally on Friday, March 7. Everyone welcome. Table of four €40.

STRADBALLY AND DISTRICT ANGLERS AGM

The annual general meeting of the Stradbally and District Anglers Association will be held in St Mary’s Hall on March 3 commencing at 8pm. All concerned are requested to attend and new members welcome.

The are looking for unwanted good quality clothes for the shop on Main Street and you can drop them into the shop. Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 10am - 4pm and Saturday 10am - 1pm. ST PATRICK’S DAY

A reminder that this is our 25th year as the parish of the three parades, Vicarstown 9am, Timahoe 10am and Stradbally 11 am. All are invited to take part and make it a memorable event.

FAIR TRADE FORTNIGHT

Come to a tea party in the old school, Vicarstown on this Thursday, February 27 from 4pm - 6pm. Have a cup of fairtrade tea or coffee, enjoy some fairtrade sweets and learn more about how we can make small changes in our daily life and that will have a positive impace on food products in developing countries.

CHEESE AND BUTTER

A reminder that a limited amount of cheese and butter will be available for collection from St Joseph’s Hall on this Wednesday, February 26 between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

TROCAIRE BOXES

A reminder that Trocaire boxes are available at the back of the three churches. Your support continues to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of those who need it most.

THE HEATH TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz will be held in Treacys, The Heath on Friday, February 28 commencing at 9pm. Tables of four, €10 per person. Proceeds to The Heath National School and it is organised by the parents council. Don’t worry if you don’t have four people, we can make up tables on the night. All support welcome.
