STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club are travelling to the Arboretum, Leighlinbridge on Saturday May 10 leaving the Social Services Hall at 2pm and returning at 6pm. Names can be given to either Dorrie Moran or Frances Scully.

The club had a very enjoyable and successful Easter demonstration given by Floral Essence from Portlaoise.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Monday, May 12 in St Mary’s Hall at 7.30pm.

STRADBALLY ANGLERS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

At the Stradbally Anglers Association annual general meeting, the following officers were elected: chairman Christy O’Dwyer, vice chairman Willie Rowe, secretary Larry Swayne, treasurer Gerry Kelly, youth officer Willie Rowe and delegates to TAF Christy O’Dwyer and Larry Swayne.

LAOIS BEALTAINE FESTIVAL

Arts and crafts, Saturday, May 17 at The Laois Arthouse, Stradbally from 11am-1pm. In conjunction with National Drawing Day Laois based artist, Caroline Keane will host a fun and creative drawing workshop for the Vicarstown Active Age Group. Contact 057 8641740. Invitation only.

Lifestyle and wellbeing event, Saturday, May 10. Meet at Vicarstown Community Centre. Time 2.30pm. Vicarstown walk along the canal with tea/coffee after in the community centre. The walk will be lead by Ann Lanigan.

STRADBALLY COUNTRY MARKETS

Stradbally Country Markets are held every Saturday in St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally from 10.30am.

SHAVE OR DYE

Rays gang head shave will be held in the Napper Tandy, Stradbally on Saturday, May 24, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

CONCERT FOR DYSART ENOS CHURCH

The Dysart Enos Church conservation group will be hosting a fundraising concert in the Church of the Holy Cross, Ratheniska on Saturday, May 3 at 7.30pm. Supported by local artists the internationally renowned ballad group The Matt Cunningham Band will be headlining. Tickets €10 are availabe in All Books, Portlaoise or from any committee member. VICARSTOWN ACTIVE RECREATIONAL GROUP

On May 2, the group will travel to Killenard Heritage and Golf Club Restaurant for tea at 7pm approx. Anyone who would like to go please contact 0578626158. IRISH CANCER SOCIETY

The church gate collection for the Irish Cancer Society will be held on the weekend of May Saturday and Sunday, 17 and 18. Please support this very worthy cause.

COMMUNITY GAMES UPDATE

Well done to the u/10 football team competing in the county semi final and taking home bronze. The first ever rugby team took silver and two gold. Best of luck to the gold medal winners in the All-Ireland finals and the drama and dancers also through to the All-Ireland finals in August.

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 May from 8.45am to 9.45am.
